Walter Klingler to step down as IML Den Daddy
Walter Klingler to step down as IML Den Daddy

CHICAGO - International Mr. Leather, Inc. announced this week that Walter Klingler has resigned as IML Den Daddy. Klinger, who is stepping down for health reasons, will be replaced immediately by Joey McDonald for the 2005 IML Contest.

Walter Klingler began his work with IML in 1982 and has served as IML Den Daddy since 1983. Klingler issued the following statement regarding his departure: “What a rhapsody of work and aliveness, year upon year, these memories of mine as your IML Den Daddy. You men. You leathered, exposed, stout, vulnerable, hot, glorious men of pain and joy. This rhapsody I carry in my tomorrows. Today, farewell.”

Chuck Renslow, founder, president and executive producer of International Mr. Leather released the following statement regarding Klingler’s retirement: “Walter is one of the last of the elders at IML. He has been part and parcel to us for over 20 years and I will miss his presence, wit and wisdom. During his tenure, Walter Klingler hosted and helped over 1,000 men. He coached them through the competition, he held their hands sharing their joy and often feeling their pain. For the contestants, he was the soul of International Mr. Leather. I hope and trust that Walter will remain with us as a member of the audience for many more years but I know that his indomitable spirit will be with us back stage in the dressing rooms for as long as there is an International Mr. Leather Contest. Thank you Walter, and God bless.”

Joey McDonald began his work with IML in 1979. He served as Assistant IML Coordinator (2004), Volunteer Coordinator (1999 - 2003), Assistant Volunteer Coordinator (1998), 12 Step Recovery Co-Coordinator (1993 - 1994) and a staff volunteer (1979 - 1991).

International Mr. Leather 2005 will be held Thursday, May 26 through Monday, May 30, 2005 (Memorial Day Weekend) in Chicago. The 2005 IML Contest will be held at an exciting new venue, Chicago’s Navy Pier, Grand Ballroom, 600 E. Grand Ave. The Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Dr., is the official host hotel for IML 2005. Hotel rooms and Weekend Packages are still available. For prices and additional information, go to www.imrl.com.
