Coors Brewing Company speaks out in support of Anderson-Murray Anti-Discrimination Bill
Coors Brewing Company speaks out in support of Anderson-Murray Anti-Discrimination Bill

At Tuesday’s scheduled hearing in the state Senate on the Anderson-Murray Anti-Discrimination Bill, three representatives from Coors Brewing Company will testify in favor of passing this very long overdue bill: Joe Benda, Regional Account Executive for Coors Brewing Company; Brad Nadal, Seattle Metro Manager for Coors; and Marty Weisbrod, Pacific Northwest GLBT Liaison for Coors.

Alan R. Timothy, Vice-President of Government Affairs for the Coors Brewing Company, sent the following letter this week to Sen. Darlene Fairley, sponsor of the Anderson-Murray Bill.

The Honorable Darlene Fairley

Washington State Senate

425 John A. Cherberg Building

P.O. Box 40432

Olympia, WA 98504-0432

Dear Senator Fairley:

Thank you for sponsoring SB 6019 and supporting its companion bill HB1515, the proposals to expand the jurisdiction of the Washington Human Rights Commission to include protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Coors Brewing Company has a longstanding commitment to non-discrimination in our workplace. More than two decades ago Coors was among the first Fortune 500 companies to adopt an employment policy that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation. In addition, since 1995, we have also offered equal benefits to our employees’ domestic partners.

We believe it is our commitment to non-discrimination that allows Coors employees to thrive and encourages all of us to work together for the success of our company. We strive for people in our entire organization to be recognized and valued for their differences because diversity is the key to achieving and sustaining our company’s vision. We recognize and respect the diversity in our workforce, our industry and among our consumers as well.

Coors believes all people should be afforded equal opportunity, regardless of sexual orientation. Passage of SB 6019 and HB 1515 will help this goal be achieved in Washington state.

Best regards,

Sincerely,

Alan R. Timothy

Vice President, Government Affairs

Coors Brewing Company
