Funkiest girls of Swamp Mama Johnson hold Bellingham R&B benefit for
Reveal Party with Sistershake

Saturday, April 2, 8:00 p.m. Nightlight Lounge - 211 E. Chestnut St., Bellingham. Tickets: $15 . Sponsored by Absolut Vodka and Great Northern Books

Come join the funkiest girls of Swamp Mama Johnson and the backbone of Portland’s Northwest Women in Rhythm and Blues for an unforgettable night of music and fun on Saturday, April 2, at the Nightlight Lounge in downtown Bellingham.

You’ll also get to see the Queer Plan for the Straight Woman candidate revealed in person, as well as a short film by Maggie Feeney featuring Bellingham’s “Fab Five” as they work their makeover magic.

Making one of her rare appearances as a member of the post-Swamp Mama lineup “Sistershake,” local drummer Kim Carson joins up again with funky SMJ pals Leah Hinchliff on bass and Tracy Ferrara on tenor sax to shake up some old Hamster fans and to support a good cause, the Evergreen AIDS Foundation.

Joining these local favorite “femme fatales of funk” are three of Portland’s most prestigious NW Women in R&B: Sonny “Smoking” Hess on guitar and vocals, as well as Lady Kat and Meghan James as featured vocalists. This lineup is one of the finest that the Northwest has to offer, having performed at several blues festivals from Oroville to Eugene. If you remember swinging to the Swamp Mamas of old, you’ll definitely be in for a treat. Don’t miss this special night!
