Next Stage Dance Theatre

Broadway Performance Hall. March 25-26 and April 1-2

The first time I saw Next Stage Dance Theatre a couple of years ago, I hadn’t hit my late 40s, but they were around the corner. Now that 50 is around the corner, so to speak, I find a group of dancers in my age group to be not only thrilling to watch, but an inspiration to me and every other woman coming into her “next stage” of life. And believe me, if you haven’t seen this spunky, excellent group of dancers, you’re in for a real treat.

The group is celebrating its five-and-a-half year birthday with a program called 5 and 1/2, and featuring new work, as well as one familiar piece, “Surviving the Undertow.” Also, for member Janis Zet len’s piece, “Four by Four,” local music group, Bella Quartet will perform “String Quartet no. 12 in F major op. 96 American mvt.1” by Antonin Dvorak. That alone should make those of you unfamiliar with this group want to run out and buy tickets, but you should also come and see a group of dancers that proves age is not a limitation, but a triumph and that art is possible at any age.
