Attention Star Trekkers, Harry Potterites, Ringies, Goths, Gamers and the curious
Get ready to party, game and in all ways be transported by this year’s Norwescon
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid SGN A&E Writer

Norwescon 28, DoubleTree Sea-Tac and Sea-Tac Hilton, March 24-27

The biggest draw for this year’s Norwescon, the giant sci-fi/fantasy convention that brings together everyone in the world (practically), who like science fiction and fantasy, will undoubtedly be the special guest of honor, Alan Dean Foster. And in case you’re not part of the wonderful world of sci-fi geekdom, he’s the guy who wrote the scripts for the Alien films, as well as the script for the first Star Trek film. Should be interesting to ask him some questions, provided we get anywhere near the man, being that he’s definitely got more than a few Northwest fans, and certainly fans outside of the Northwest. Who will most surely show up too.

Or, you can take part in a number of panels, including “Media’s Portrayal of Fandom,” “TV SF Costume Review” (both on Friday), and a Japanese Sword Demo, and “Sex Life: Live” to name a few. And there’s always the dealer’s room, where you can purchase items to enhance, or create a costume, comics, and all other manner of sci-fi/fantasy-oriented stuff. Later, you can go to the Masquerade, then dance at the yearly dance (where we’ll undoubtedly be doing “The Time Warp” as always), or party in the many room parties. For information, go to www.norwescon.org and click on the appropriate pages to find out what you want to know. Keep in mind, the DoubleTree is booked and the last time I checked, they were putting the overflow in the Hilton down the street, but there are any number of cheap places around the area to crash, and there’s always that occasional hook-up who’ll let you crash on the floor. Me, I can’t wait to see what the costume “theme” is this year and to mix it up with some new hottie
