| This week, Families Like Ours announced some of their upcoming programs for Washington adoptive families. Families Like Ours is the premier national nonprofit providing a gateway for LGBT families interested in adoption, a network of safe placement agencies, ongoing trainings, support and resources. Families Like Ours is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
ADOPTION 101 Thinking about adoption? Our Adoption 101 class walks you through all the types of adoptions from foster-adoption, private, international, to what is an open adoption contract. Each family receives our Adoption 101 booklet, agency referral and resource list and Adoption Pocket Guide, your road map to adoption. This workshop covers adoption myths, most asked adoption questions, how to choose an agency and what you should be talking about at home before adoption! Cost: $15 per person/$20 per couple to help cover costs Date: Thursday, May 19 Time: 6:00-8:30 p.m. Location: 600 Stewart St., Suite 1313 To register: Call Families Like Ours at (206) 441-7602 CPR/FIRST AID/BBP/AED TRAINING ADULT & INFANT Get everything you need in this one day training! This training is open to everyone, and fulfills required training for foster/adoption families. One Day, all inclusive class! Cost: $50 per person Date: Saturday, May 21 Time: 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Location: 600 Stewart St., Suite 1313 To register: Call Families Like Ours at (206) 441-7602 ADOPTION & FOSTER PARENT PRIDE TRAINING Are you ready to move forward with your foster-adoption? This required 30 hour training covers everything you need for Washington State in the areas of family team building, training on the type of kids available and what to expect, home requirements, successfully working with your adoption and foster team, and a primer on effective parenting skills for adoptive and foster families.
