If you missed the drumming last weekend, check out Folklife this weekend
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - >SGN A&E Writer Northwest Folklife Festival Memorial Day Weekend Seattle Center For those who didnt get there fill of drumming last weekend at the World Rhythm Festival, and for those of us who didnt know about it so we didnt get there until the last minute, youll be pleased to know therell be lots of drum circles at this weekends Northwest Folklife Festival. And there will also be workshops and community drumming circles led by Mary Anderson, Peter Fanga Yarborough and Jamtown John among others. The theme for this years Memorial Day weekend festival is Passing on Our Stories and should be as much fun as ever, offering visitors a chance to explore new music and old forms of music like my personal favorite, Celtic music and bluegrass. And of course, its a great place to meet new people and hang out with friends, so you could think of Folklife as a total win/win situation. Just show up, with or without percussion instruments, with or without your own picnic and Im sure youll find something fun to do.
