| Signed Keane poster with Gay Pride greetings to benefit Lambert House via special raffle at "Alternative Tuesdays" |
I was extended an invitation to meet British pop-rock trio Keane when they came to town in May for a performance at the Paramount Theatre. After the show, they met with a teeny tiny group of fans and media personnel. They were extremely polite. Ive met artists before who sign your CD or photo and then take off. Not Keane. They individually came to the table, where I and a few friends were sitting, and sat down to talk with us. They were the nicest, down to earth guys you could possibly meet. It makes you want to always be a fan of theirs. They even posed for a picture with us, which Im not very pleased with because it was taken before my low-carb days.
Anyway, Keane was ever so sweet to autograph a mini-poster for the Seattle Gay News that has specific greetings for Seattle Gay Pride 2005. All three members, Tom Chaplin, Tim Rice-Oxley and Richard Hughes, signed it. I witnessed it, my friends witnessed it and the record label witnessed it. So its the real thing. The poster, framed with a band picture, will be given away as a special prize at Manrays Alternative Tuesdays on Tuesday, June 21. Raffle tickets will be sold during the event (9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.), and the proceeds will benefit Lambert House. You can buy as many tickets as youd like. So if you like Keane or know someone who likes Keane, be at Manray (514 E. Pine St.) for Alternative Tuesdays this week. Plus, you can watch music videos by kick-ass artists like Gorillaz, The Killers, Coldplay, Beck, Tegan and Sara, Bjork, Green Day and Franz Ferdinand. By the way, that Gorillaz song Feel Good Inc. is so damn good. And, of course, Manray will play some Keane videos too. Theyre amazing.

| Foo Fighters flying fans to New Mexico for unique concert to celebrate 10-year anniversary and new album |
Talk about rolling out the red carpet for your fans. Grammy-winning rock group Foo Fighters werent messing around when they dreamed up a plan to fly 500 of their loyal followers to New Mexico this weekend for a free concert. Wow! The special performance, marking the bands 10-year anniversary, will take place on the site of the former Walker Air Force Base. The location is said to be where the US government stored hush-hush information about a UFO that fell to earth in the late 40s. That was long before E.T.s phone home days. The private, invite-only event celebrates the release of Foo Fighters new album In Your Honor. Additionally, it spotlights the just-launched music service Rhapsody 25, which allows anyone to enjoy up to 25 free songs monthly and share them with whomever, with no strings attached.
Dave Grohl, lead guitarist and vocalist for Foo Fighters, is the former drummer of Nirvana. So, hes got Seattle roots. And hes one cool son of a gun. That video with Jack Black, where they dress up as women and have a spanking party inside a hotel room, is fucking hilarious. I know a lot of Gay boys who like Foo Fighters. Maybe its because of Grohl, who I wouldnt mind cuddling up to inside a sleeping bag. Or, maybe its because they rock. Actually, all four members are pretty juicy looking. Anywho, you can catch the show as it happens by tuning into http://guide.real.com. Foo Fighter fans from four cities, including Seattle, will attend the show.

| Nine Inch Nails ready to bang Seattle with Sept. 23 appearance |
Get ready Nine Inch Nails fans! Theyre coming to Seattle. Yup, for sure! So make a mental note of this date. Or, for those of us with a very short-term memory (what did I eat today?), write this down. NIN will perform at Key Arena on Friday, September 23. Far out! Its on a weekend. Do you know how many shows Ive had to get wasted at on a weekday, and then bounce into the office the next morning? Too many. I have no ticket information for NIN at the moment, but someone should be whispering it in my ear very soon.
Nine Inch Nails, led by that hot piece of ass named Trent Reznor, is soaring right now on the music charts with their newest release With Teeth, featuring the super cool single The Hand That Feeds. I cant remember the last time NIN visited Seattle, but its definitely been awhile. Remember when they toured with David Bowie? My friend Lisa was so trashed that she made out with this total dork from Olympia in the beer garden. Meanwhile, I got drunk and ate Cracker Jacks. Classy. Anyway, NIN at Key Arena is going to be through the roof! Im sure a lot of Gay alternative music fans will be at this show. Youre not going to miss seeing Trent Reznor in person, are you? Of course not. Ticket information coming soon.
