One of the most poignant and original female singer-songwriters of recent years is returning to The Triple Door on Tuesday night. Shelby Lynne took the music industry by storm when she won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2000. Although, she had been recording for almost six years prior, her album I Am Shelby Lynne stands as a landmark for an artist perfecting her craft. Lynne's music is bittersweet, reflective and at times emotionally devastating.

In 2003, she released Identity Crisis, which is one of my all time favorite albums. It is rich in style and very heartfelt. "If I Were Smart" is a perfect song, in my opinion. The entire album really connects with its listeners and challenges them to open up their souls and spirits. "10 Rocks" and "I Don't Think So" are so moving that I can only imagine what they would sound like live. Lynne performed "Mother" at a John Lennon tribute concert, and I still get chills when I think of it. It is one of the most incredible live performances I have ever seen.

Recently, Lynne released a brand new album entitled Suit Yourself and it's draped in her grassroots in country. Throughout the album you can feel Lynne's intensity and passion for music. "Where Am I Now" and "Sleep" are constantly on repeat in my stereo and just can't wait for you to hear the cover of "Rainy Night in Georgia". My heart melts!

The Triple Door is a great place to see a concert. The theatre is beautiful and intimate, the food is excellent and you can even get there a little early to have a drink in "The Musiquarium" before the show. The Musiquarium is the lounge that boasts a 1,900-gallon aquarium. The drinks are great and you have to order some of their delectable appetizers before getting into the theatre.
