| Very good art to cheer you, in the days following Super Bowl XL |

Oh, ow ow ow, the moment that I realized 'our team', those glorious 'boys of winter', the Seahawks, weren't going to bring home the big prize, that was my response. Still, now that my sore heart is beginning to heal (as I'm sure everyone else's is), I am delighted that at last we have sunshine in the sky and it looks like Spring might be on the way. So, here are some art exhibits that'll cheer you up, whether you're mourning the Seahawks' losing, or just need a cure for the 'winter blues'.
First, for those who live on the Hill, you simply must get over to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center and check out the art on the walls there. I've been neglecting to mention these lovely folks, but I did not want to go without making note of the art shows they've been doing-and I'm sure they have a good one there now, so check them out. Located up the street from the Wild Rose, their shows are usually up for a month.
And do not leave the Hill without seeing the splendid display at The Aurafice Café. Wild, wooly and completely gothic (and just a bit unnerving), these drawings give the viewer something to think about as well as something to spend some time perusing and pondering. Located on Pine, near Travelers, and also up for a month. Speaking of Travelers, wander in, have some tea, buy an East Indian treat, or put together an East Indian feast. While you're there, check out the art on display, part of the Mahuban exhibit from Northern Bihar, India. These pieces are absolutely gorgeous and richly textured textiles and paintings that should give the viewer something to enjoy and talk about if you're with a companion.
Then, wander off the Hill, and check out the exhibits at Art/Not Terminal-where there's always something marvelous on the walls, and in the subterranean, downstairs gallery. Then check out the works at Local Color (located in the Pike Place Market, at the end of the fruit and veggie and food stalls). I've found the art there to be as delicious as the fresh selection of pastries and drinks the gallery and café has available and the staff is super nice. So, go in and see some art, have a gnosh and feel better. After all, the Mariners haven't even started their season, and motivated by the 'Hawks,' who knows what might happen.
