EASTER GREETINGS

Dear SGN,

This Sunday is Easter and it is a time for new beginnings! We have all had a time when we wished we could turn back the hands of time or we wish we could get a do over. Well, we can't turn back the hands of time nor do we get do overs.

The very good news is that we do, however, get another chance with each new day! We each get our own personal resurrection. The big question is do you trust yourself enough to take advantage of your opportunity? The new opportunity that you are given with each new day. To live life fully and to the best of your ability.

So, on this Easter rejoice in your own resurrection day...'let this be your day of rising to brand new you'!

In the Spirit of Service,

Rev. Gwen Hall

GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE BANQUET & AWARDS

Dear Business and Community Leaders:

[Editors Note: This open letter to businesses and community leaders was submitted as a letter to the editor by GLSEN Puget Sound]

The Washington State Gay-Straight Alliance Banquet and Awards Ceremony is Washington's signature event for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender youth and their allies. This event attracts a couple hundred participants every year.

This year, the event - to be held at the IKEA Performing Arts Center (a 500 seat theatre and event center) in Renton, WA - will prove to be the most extravagant yet. The unofficial theme will be "Hollywood Nights."

On Friday, May 19th, we hope to roll out the red carpet for these courageous young people and their allies who are working to make to stop harassment and end homophobia in Washington's K-12 schools. Eight lucky nominees will walk away with Oscar-like statuettes and every nominee will receive a Certificate of Recognition.

In addition, participants can bid on items from Show Biz's hottest names and local businesses in our "Walk of Fame" silent auction.

However, to make the youths dreams come true, we need your help. The Washington State GSA Network, a program of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Puget Sound, has several ways businesses can get involved.

Auction Items: Silent auction items are needed. A donation of products and services is a great way to get your name out there while helping a community nonprofit at the same time.

Food: If you are a catering business or local restaurant, hors d'oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages are needed for our "Mocktail Reception" for award nominees and banquet sponsors.

Money: We charge youth only a fraction of the total costs of putting on the event, just $8. We need financial contributions to offset the costs for food, rental, and logistical assistance (such as hotel, travel and meals).

Tickets: Seats to the event are the biggest bargain in town; only $8 for youth/students and $18 for adults. An adult table for 10 is also available at the reduced rate of $175. Contact Brown Paper Tickets at 1-800-838-3006 or visit, www.BrownPaperTickets.com, to purchase tickets.

We have four sponsorship levels. A total retail value of your contribution (goods, services or financial donation) will place you into one of the following four categories:

Bronze / $100 - Your name/company will be listed in the program. Invitation to our "Mocktail Reception."

Silver / $200 - A small version of your logo will be displayed in the program and included (along with other Silver sponsors) during our slideshow. Your name/company name will be announced at during the event. Invitation to our "Mocktail Reception."

Gold / $500 - A large size version of your logo will be displayed in the program and will appear alone during our slideshow. You will also be entitled to a _ page ad in our program. Your name/company name will be announced at during the event. Your logo will also be included in our print advertising (if desired). Invitation to our "Mocktail Reception."

Platinum / $1,000 - A large size version of your logo will be displayed in the program and will appear alone during our slideshow. You will also be entitled to a full page ad in our program. Your name/company name will be announced during the event. Your logo will also be included in our print advertising (if desired). Invitation to our "Mocktail Reception."

Please join Ivar's Seafood Bar, The Seattle Gay News, The Pride Foundation, The IKEA Performing Arts Center, Renton High School GSA, and others in becoming a sponsor of the event.
