| Spring has sprung, the Hill is healing and so much more in this Lipstick and Lust |

I finally went into Madison Market last weekend (the lack of cash, and also the grief of realizing that though I didn't know the two cashiers who were murdered, I had met them in my travels to the Market, kept me from my usual grocery shopping trip) and though there was a deep silence lingering in the normally friendly atmosphere, things have pretty well gotten back to the routine. And around The Hill, the faces I meet on my daily walk to and from SGN offices, have started to show smiles. And yes, my own life is going along at a fine clip, with more lusting for both my fave news anchor, Alison 'I adoreya' Grande and (of all people!), the Wendy's 'sensational salad' femme. What can I say, I'm a sucker for certain types, and these two are high on this one's list. As is a certain reporter from another paper, who I fantasize about having a Victorian scene with sometime (her in crisp, white bloomers and cami and me in a Victorian 'schoolmistress' get up, oh yeah!). Those dark, (I think), Irish good looks just slay me!
Anyhew, I've also been a busy little bee, being in the middle of three, count them, three hot and heavy romances, with a couple of others 'floating' on the edges. Hey, my politics don't agree with either monogamy or marriage, so there you go! To my mind, isn't it time we came up with something beside the typical 'male/female/nuclear/capitalist' dynamic? Yeah, I think so kids, but that's just me. And yes, the Moisture Festival has been a wonderful feast for all of my senses, and there's a certain someone I'm lusting for over there too. And to think I was worried that turning the big 'five oh' would kill the old libido, not flippin' likely sweetie!
So, with all of that lusting and healing, have I had any time for trying things to tell you about? Yes dahlings, I have. First, I recommend strongly trying Sahalie's Goji Berries (which you can also pick up at Madison Market too!). They're wonderful in salads, or steeped for tea, though this is definitely an acquired taste, believe me, and they're good in yogurt. Rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, these little babies will get you all glowy and energetic for the upcoming season of being outdoors. And trust me, healthy is pretty, baby, this one knows! You can order from Sahalie (they have great workout clothes too!) at www.sahalie.com, or just pick some up the next time you're in Madison Market. Add to mixed greens, some tomatoes, onions, and maybe some chopped daikon radish or Jerusalem artichoke, dress with your favorite dressing, add your fave spice to taste and you've got a light, tasty snack, or add cheese and bread, and you have a meal.
And now, for you faithful lovelies who have been just panting for the next episode of 'Prayerland: The D'I'a'leggj Chronicles' here you are. Bon appetite my little chocolate shells.
Sundown going down on a bad day is what Vex, manager of Number 590 of one of the last of the Homeland Housing and Property highrises, was thinking as she inhaled from her last cigarette. She held the slim rolled object away from her, watching the fire at the tip burn down the blue paper, and the little wisp of smoke that it left in the air in front of her. Enjoying 'fire' that's what the young things called it these days, but she was old enough to remember when this simple activity was called 'smoking'. She inhaled again, looked out of the window at the darkness which had fallen after the heavy rain from earlier turned into a weak mist chased like 'crags' by a vicious wind that pinged hail against her window now. She looked at the paper in her other hand, read the bold letters that said a number of 'jects, including number 590 was most likely in line to be 'upgraded'-she knew that really meant torn apart and turned into more housing for the overflow from The Fortresses of Light buildings , while her tenants would be moved further onto the edges of the now battered 'hinterlands'. 'Fuck you brother devil' she said out loud to no one in particular, referring to the hegemony that ran most of the delapidated buildings housing those who could never afford the cost of living in this city before The Fall, and now, certainly couldn't.
'He can't sleep in our bed and Lisa's on the floor,' Jelly was standing, with her arms folded in the 'just try and fuck with me' pose, whispering loud enough for our two 'guests' to hear (and I knew this was on purpose to get me back for bringing a man into our space) and even though I was exhausted enough to start snoring on my feet, I was determined to not back down. Hell, wasn't I the butch? Wasn't I the one who, even when I was on the bottom, was still in charge of what happened in the bedroom and wasn't I the fucking 'sheriff'? I wanted to just grab her around the waist the way I usually did and throw her on the bed and settle this dispute with sex, the way we always did. And yet, in the last days something had changed between us, and now I was worried that everything that had gone as 'normal' before was being challenged. There'd been me and Lisa in that dungeon, two old friend dying-one before my eyes, and even my dreams of the perfect world seemed tainted when I could dream about it. I sat down on the bed, patted the space beside me and after a while of posturing, making sure I knew this was an equal relationship, not the 'Dodge City' fantasy I often thought of, Jelly joined me. We sat for what seemed like a small eternity, shared fire, letting the smoke circle above us and make words we couldn't enunciate, and then we held each other, relishing each other's smells like I've seen cats do when one thinks the other is upset or has suffered in some way human beings will never understand. We were kissing, touching each other, moving into a slow, lazy zone that would end with my lips in her wetness, her hands in my hair while she bucked and rocked her way to her first, then third, and eventually fifth orgasm, and I lay beneath her, taking my own like a gift.
And we were so lost in that liquid, flesh paradise when our daughter, Miracle brought Lisa and Jeremy into the bedroom for a chat.
It was Lisa's giggling and Jeremy's uncomfortable clearing of his throat that alerted us that we were no longer alone, but in her newly restored comfort zone, Jelly just kept rubbing her sex against mine, not even caring that our daughter was watching with too wise eyes. So I went with the whole thing and even when Miracle left, humming the same tune I'd heard in my dream from the other night, and Lisa (who just shrugged and smiled in a 'when in Rome' look of acceptance) and Jeremy plopped onto the bed we didn't stop. And no, it wasn't your Penthouse or Playboy (I'd seen a couple of these outdated porn mags in Bo's apartment, where he kept them in an old crate in the bathroom) fantasy situation. No, we just giggled a lot, wrestling around until we were all naked and then mostly kissing and hugging a lot, more out of a need to forget everything that happened to all of us in the last days than trying for any kind of goal like cumming. Actually, when I thought about it later, when everyone else was sleep, it seemed more like some kind of ancient ritual of sexual celebration of earth energies than actual sex and that's what I was thinking, when, with Jelly's arms around me, Lisa's lips still softly kissing me in her sleep, and Jeremy's head on Lisa' belly, I fell asleep.
Bo was dreaming, a woman with orange skin and a man with earlobes that touched the ground doing something, and saying words that made his body feel light and buoyant. And then, he was standing, something he hadn't done since before that kid in the car in 'Raq went to pieces and the lights went out, blinded by a sudden flash, big noise, then nothing. 'So you guys are the good ones, and these&these&'S'e'lt&' he had a hard time with that word, but they seemed to undersand anyway. 'They're the bad ones&' 'No, not bad in the sense that you know, but&' they said something that he figured out meant something like 'troubled' and 'not of the tribe'. And then they started to ask him about that kid that he'd seen with Jelly and Dee Orange, the one they'd named Miracle, after they saved her from that sicko on the other side of town. 'So you need her for&for&' 'She is the embodiment of The All&you would say&God,' Bo let out a soft whistle and the rest of it just slid by him, as he let that idea sink in, while the joy of walking, and now, dancing (with a woman that had come from nowhere, who seemed more light than being) made him smile, both in the dream, and in his favorite chair in his apartment.
In her practice room, Jai Lin was working up a sweat with one of the Mortes, the clones her father had 'given' her to keep her out of his hair. This was his answer to both his idea to regain financial leverage in the K'aij he belonged to with five other former industrialists-two from what had been Saudi Arabia and one from Africa, or what had been the Motherland, before the climate, political mishandling and bad economic planning had destroyed the whole continent-and answering his daughter's need for friends. This last because he, having become paranoid to the extent of near insanity about the possibility that he might be killed in his sleep by imagined rivals, never let her out of his sight. And knowing that the man in front of her could be remade again and again, only made Jai Lin more fiercely reckless in her attacks, as they struck and countered each other in a series of deadly martial moves designed to keep Jai Lin strong. After all, in her father's opinion, should he die, she would have to continue in his stead. No matter that she had her own ideas about her future (and meeting the two playmates she'd detained in her dungeon had only strengthened that resolve). In a sudden burst, she felled her opponent, and without thinking for more than the time it took to inhale, Jai Lin punched her fist into the man's face, the force collapsing his nasal bones into his brain and killing him instantly.
And as the blood bubbled from him like a scarlet brook, she fell to her knees, tears welling in her eyes, making a promise to herself that when the time came, hers would be the blow that also put her father out of his misery and freed her and her lover, Pijt.
'It's time High One.' The older woman looked into the eyes of her oldest friend and sister on their part of the Holy Quiijlt, the circle of Elder Ones that saw after the affairs of all of the tribes. The group had come to be, after The Troubles nearly destroyed their world, and all of the finned, furred, scaled, feathered and Others appealed with The Song for help. Now the essence of what they'd all worked for, what had become the law that governed all life in P'I'al'egj, and kept everything in harnony was threatened by one group that appeared ready to revisit the war days of their bloody pasts. So a new Versing of The Song, a meeting between The Elders had been called by the Vazxa, those of the water, who had first felt the trouble in their frequent visits between the tribes and Seen. The two women touched their foreheads in acknowledgment and love, enjoying the decision they'd made, though temporary, to take corporeal form for this meeting and the 'visits' they'd made to the human world lately. 'It's been very long since I knew this part of you, Oo'aa'louu', 'And I you, Nooka,' the two women held hands as they left the Duurg to join the others, uncertain of what would come of all of this, but glad they were at least, together in this time of change.
And in her dream, in the bed her mothers, Jelly and Dee had made in the small living area of the apartment, Miracle was joining a bunch of people who looked like people, and also looked like animals in the book Dee had been reading her before her bedtime. One looked like a mermaid, and had a pretty smile and a voice that sounded like bells being touched by wind and one reminded her of the elephant toy Bo had given her when she stayed with him to keep Vex, the manager from knowing she was living with Dee and Jelly. The others made her think of dolphins and two looked like what she thought whales would look like if they ever became human. In the middle of this group was a very bright light that seemed to be made up of many lights, like a rainbow come to life and it was calling her. Not with the kind of voice like her mothers, or the new people, Lisa and Jeremy used, but something better, something much more exciting, and it seemed everyone was waiting for her, Miracle to speak. So thinking she could, she flew (and she giggled when she did this, because it felt wonderful to be flying) to the rainbow and high above all the faces, she started singing the song she'd been hearing in her mind for the last week. And as she sang, the other voices joined her, wrapped around her and in her body she felt more than heard the words, 'welcome All Mother, welcome home,'.
So, there it be my little peach yogurts! Hope you loved this experience (it's not just a story, it's an experience!) as much as I loved creating it for you, and remember all of this will soon be a book, with a party to celebrate it. Be nice to each other in you passing each other, and keep being in love (I sure will!), and do e-mail me at ijanaral@yahoo.com. Buhbye!
