Sistah 2 Sistah is pleased to present Strange FRUIT: A Tribute to Nina Simone featuring vocalist Mercedes Nicole and her band, Saturday, June 24, 2006, 2 PM at Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park (1400 East Prospect Street Avenue, Seattle).

Strange FRUIT tells the story of Nina Simone, Honorary Doctor in Musicology and Humanities. Whose voice, grabbed the United States by the political and cultural throat when it came to racism and equal rights.

Strange FRUIT is a respectful tribute to "The High Priestess of Soul" capturing character of Nina Simone's work.

Sistah 2 Sistah is an organization of women that promote visibility and unity among Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Transgender women of African descent. Sistah 2 Sistah offers spiritual, emotional and educational resources to empower women to become a positive and viable force within the African American and LBT community. Proceeds from this fund raiser will go to Sistah 2 Sistah food drive and educational outreach.
