Blogger Outs Idaho Senator
Blogger Outs Idaho Senator
by Robert Raketty - SGN Staff Writer

The sexual orientation of Idaho Senator Larry Craig was called into question on Tuesday, as an activist blogger told nationally syndicated radio host Ed Schultz that he had documented the stories of at least four men who say they have had sexual relations with the Senator.

Mike Rogers, the blogger behind BlogActive, made the announcement during the Ed Schultz show, which is broadcast in more than 100 cities and on Sirius Satellite Radio. "Without a doubt in my mind," he told Schultz of his certainty. "I am absolutely solid on the sources. ... On this case, I have been working for two and a half years."

According to a statement on his blog, Rogers claims to have taken trips to the Pacific Northwest to meet with men who have said they have had physical relations with the Senator and to having met with a man in Washington, D.C., who made a similar claim. He says the men reported comparable personal characteristics and that none of the men knew each other or that he was talking to others.

Rogers said he hoped to expose Craig's years of hypocrisy, because the Senator consistently voted against the interests of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community

. He also urged Idaho's social and conservative leaders to account for their support of Craig. "Senator Craig has consistently relied on the support of Idaho's " values voters,' but he has not been honest with them about his own conduct," wrote Rogers. "Conservatives and liberals are both standing up and recognizing the hypocrisy of elected officials like Senator Larry Craig. The time for treating Americans one way and behaving in another is over."

A spokesperson for the Idaho Republican, Sid Smith, said the Congressman denied the charge. "The senator says the story is completely ridiculous," Smith told the Spokesman-Review. "Mr. Rogers has no facts to back up his story. [The events] absolutely did not (occur); there is no basis in fact."

Rogers has outed prominent Republican figures in the past, including Republican Congressman Ed Schrock, former-RNC field director Dan Gurley, Representative David Dreier and Ken Mehlman, chair of the RNC. He promised to out another member of Congress
