City Honors Trans Jail Policy Group |
The Trans Jail Policy Group was awarded the City of Seattle's Distinguished Citizen Award for Human Rights on Thursday during a ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Seattle. The policy group was recognized for their work with King County Jail officials to develop and implement comprehensive policies concerning the treatment of Transgender, gender variant and Intersex inmates. Mayor Greg Nickels delivered brief remarks, but Germaine Covington, director of the Seattle Office for Civil Rights, presented the honor.
