The Saga Continues& Let us pray!
The Saga Continues& Let us pray!
by Nevin Jefferson - SGN Contributing Writer

Lord,
Make me instrumental of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

The "Week of World Prayer" ends this Sunday, January 28th, 2007. The goal of the Week of World Prayer was for all churches to come together as one in prayer. A service for the Week of World Prayer was held Tuesday the 23rd of January at Ecumenical Chapel on the campus of Seattle University. The choir was heavenly and sounded like the Arch Angels in God's Choir moved through them with the power of the Holy Sprit.

Let's make world affairs a part of our daily prayers. Not just one week out of the year. Break out the rosaries, light candles, then get down on your knees and pray for our enemies and those who wish us harm and for all whom we have injured or offended. Let's pray in harmony for those who think that the peace sign is the cross broken and placed upside down by the keeper of hell and mayhem. Those who burn crosses as a sacrifice donned in sheets from their closet. Those who preach hatred, malice, racism, and bigotry against others. Those who use the bible for their wrong doing and to put everyone and everything down that they're against. It's their way, not God's way!

A classic example of this is Ken Hutcherson of the Antioch Bible Church where "his" words are misconstrued as God's words. Hutcherson is the latest member of the religious-wrong who judge, oppress, and condemn those who aren't like them. Thank God that we're not like them! I prefer unique and usual characteristics blended with personalities of their own. We're created in God's image by his sculpting hands that molded us into the individuals whom they are. He is the potter and we are the clay.

I can personally testify to you that prayer does work, just as long as you believe! You have to believe with all of your heart, mind, and soul that there is a higher power in your life and that higher power is God. Faith, hope, and love are the true principles in being a Christian; with your faith saving you from life's perils.
