Emmy Awards race is super tight - nominations announced on July 19
by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Nominations for this year's primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on July 19 by Jon Cryer and Kyra Sedgwick, both expected to make the cut for Best Supporting Actor-Comedy and Best Lead Actress-Drama respectively.

Look for The Office and Ugly Betty to dominate the comedy categories. My fingers are crossed for Entourage and Weeds. The drama field is loaded with great talent, especially in the crowded Best Lead Actor race. But expect The Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy to pick up several key nominations. I hope ATAS (Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) voters, who privately screened episodes of ten selected finalists in each category, will give much-deserved attention to Heroes, The Riches and House. With so many worthy choices, the big story could be who didn't get nominated as opposed to those who did.

Here's a rundown of the major categories.
