lang performing back-to-back shows at Moore Theatre in March
When k. d. lang performed at Chateau St. Michelle this summer, it rained. Actually, it poured. But that didn't stop Seattle Gay News writer Richard Kennedy from heading out to the Woodinville winery, with a blanket held over his head. No blankets will be needed when lang returns to the Seattle area early next year because she'll be indoors. The Grammy-winning chanteuse has announced back-to-back concerts on March 19 and 20 at the Moore Theatre. lang's winter-spring tour kicks off in Glasgow, Scotland on January 29 and stops at London, Toronto, Boston, New York, and Philadelphia before making its way to the West Coast. The singer-songwriter will release Watershed, an album of 11 brand new songs, on February 5 - marking lang's first studio recording since 2004's Hymns of the 49th Parallel. Tickets for k. d. lang, priced at $36 and $51, go on sale November 3 (10am) at all Ticketmaster locations or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

Tunstall, Collective Soul cozy up at The Mountain's "Winter Warmth"
I love the cover of KT Tunstall's sophomore album Drastic Fantastic - she's strumming an electric guitar with one knee up and a pair of kick-ass boots. The Scottish beauty is showing off her edgier side, a slight change from her pop princess debut last year when she broke through the American and UK charts with "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree", which earned her a Grammy nomination. Tunstall's first album, Eye to the Telescope, was a finalist for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 2006. The good news for Tunstall fans is that she's headed to Seattle, scheduled to appear at the 13th Annual "Winter Warmth" concert sponsored by local radio station 103.7 (The Mountain). This year's bash, also featuring rock band Collective Soul and a soon-to-be-named very special guest, will take place at the Paramount Theatre on December 15. The Mountain's annual holiday gig benefits First Place School, a Seattle nonprofit organization that assists families and their children in transition with education and social services. Tickets for "Winter Warmth", priced at $35, $55 and $75, are on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations and the Paramount Theatre box office. Seattle Gay News will preview the event closer to show date.

Bentley, Aldean, Turner lead hunky list of nominees for CMA Awards
What do Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean and Josh Turner have in common? For starters, they're three of the finest looking cowboys around. Besides that, they're each nominated for Country Music Association (CMA) Awards this year. Bentley, who I've met on a couple of occasions and just so happens to be a true sweetheart, is competing for Album of the Year for his impressive, Grammy-nominated Long Trip Alone (SGN's Top 25 Albums/CDs, 2006). Aldean, who interviewed with Seattle Gay News in March, is up for the Horizon Award (Best New Artist). Turner, a surprise yet well-deserved Grammy nominee in 2006, has a chance to snag the Male Vocalist of the Year trophy. To my knowledge, all three beefcakes are performing on the CMA broadcast (November 7, ABC). Bentley is currently touring the Midwest, Aldean is opening shows for Rascal Flatts and headlining a series of dates in the Southeast, and Turner is on the road with Sara Evans. Other noteworthy hotties competing for CMAs include Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, and Rodney Atkins. The CMA Awards begin at 8pm (PST).
