Lipstick and Lust
Caught by Seattle's cold from hell, another mean bus driver, and
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

Happy holidays, my little chickadees, and what a season it's turning out to be! As I sit here, struggling to breathe, trying to ignore the fact that, at last, the "Seattle cold from hell" has taken hold in this one's body, I'm hatin' on the truly evil bus driver who helped bring this awful fact about. This is what happened. This one was trying to get on a certain # 131 bus to see the Fabulous Daughter last Sunday, even risking life and limb running against the light to catch this damned bus, all the while dodging the sideways rain and wind. Well, dahlings, that racist pig of a driver - we think my big, blue coat (which I look fabulous in) and hat underneath the hood made me look like some trouble dude, thus bringing out the evil in this particular driver - not only did not wait, but tried to run this one over with the bus, all the while making sure that this one did not get that 131. And this one was then stranded at a cold, rainy bus stop for an hour to wait for the next bus. Guess he showed me for daring to cross against the light, huh? What a freaking Grinch, eh, my little sugarless chocolates? No doubt!

So, what else happened? Well, this one also attended that wonderful Julia's show Le Faux with the SGN staff as we partied, holiday-style, last weekend. Great show, and honey, these babes, though not biologically correct, are to die for, in makeup that looks better than this one looks on her best day. Go see it and be amused, titillated and in all ways cheered.

This one did have plans that evening to meet up with the certain Marine who answered my Craigslist ad back in November (and has been texting and talking to me every day since), but family issues prevented that meeting, unfortunately. So, another day, and we are so hoping to see that one for New Year's Eve (as is the plan as of this writing). We'll keep you posted on the developing story my lovelies, promise!

Also, the Divine Brother sent this one moolah for Christmas, so now I have new workout shoes to develop a better body in. Merry Christmas and a lovelier New Year to me, fo' sho'! Also picked up some new eye stuff from Sally's Beauty Supply for the celebrating to come, so I'm sure whoever I end up with on December 31st will be thinking how gorgeous this one is. Check out the selection there, and believe me, you will find stocking stuffers for others, or for your little old self, true dat. I'm going back for one of those five-dollar Spa Candles (before they're all gone) to keep my digs lit for me and the kitties and give us that warm holiday feeling on cold evenings.

In the meantime, do also try Makeup Forever's "Lift Concealer," which is perfect for looking fresh whether you have a killer cold or have just partied a little too much the night before. Get some at Sephora, and check out all the other glittery eyeliners and lip glosses for the end of year celebrating you're sure to be doing. And if your budget's like mine - nearly spent by that time - pick up some glitter lipgloss in all kinds of delish colors by Wet 'n Wild at Bartels. Cheap and hot, just like yours truly. Well, not cheap, honey, not this one. Also try Wise Woman "Facial Moisturizing Cream" which you can get at The Body Shoppe (which also has some glitter eye stuff for New Year's Eve), and will keep your skin wonderfully hydrated even in the harshest Northwest weather.

Finally, here's a list of my "winners and losers" for the ending year and upcoming year. Enjoy!

Winner: bus drivers who wait for passengers, even if they're jaywalking to get to the bus. Loser: drivers who drive off, or wave while driving off, leaving passengers at the bus stop. Winner: drivers who are aware of, and nice to, pedestrians. Loser: drivers who run red lights - especially in front of police stations, and nearly mow down pedestrians. Winner: people who smile before you smile at them. Loser: people who don't smile, no matter how nice you smile at them. Winner: men who let women and children have seats on crowded buses. Loser: men and others, who not only don't get up for women and children, but who run over them trying to score the first seat. And also loser: men who see women, or others struggling with an armful of packages to try and open a door, but don't help. Winner: people driving with others in their car, thus saving gas and the environment. Loser: people driving one person per SUV, with "Kerry/Edwards" or some other "meaningful" bumpersticker, particularly anti-war sticker. Guys, that oil they're fighting for is because of you. And last, but not least, people who are homophobic, racist, sexist, or genderphobic? Losers. People who know the world is wide, beautiful, muti-ethnic, and multi-sexual? Winners.

So, that's my beginning for "what hot and what's not" for the year to come. Expect more as more pops to mind. For now, be kind to each other, spread peace, take care of your body and other folks' bodies (cover your coughs and sneezes on buses and in elevators!) and stock up on zinc and vitamin C. Don't stress; the holidays are fun, trust me. And do feel free to email this one with your thoughts at ijanaral@yahoo.com, and remember tarot readings are good presents. Oh, and "the Grinch award" goes to a certain wig-wearing SHA building manager du jour, for posting a "we gonna inspect your apartment" (really, we want to hassle you the week before Christmas, because your life is exciting and ours is crap) on this one's door. Shame on you, Miss Thang, and a piece of coal in your stocking! Buhbye!
