Seattle LGBT Center's open letter to the community
Seattle LGBT Center's open letter to the community
New year, new location! The Seattle LGBT Center is moving to a new location. The Seattle LGBT Community Center (Queen City Community Development) will be moving its operations out of the current address at 1115 East Pike Street.

We have been researching a number of possible Capitol Hill locations and have not finalized anything yet but will let the community know as soon as the board of directors reaches a decision.

The move and restructuring of the Center is motivated by the need to reduce our overhead and streamline operations. Like many non-profit organizations nationwide, and especially LGBT organizations, we have experienced a few financial difficulties in 2007.

Since 2002, The Center has served thousands of members of the community through our resource and referral line, affordable meeting spaces, Q-Arts, fiscal sponsorship and QueerFest. The Center is committed to continuing our support of the LGBTQ community and is working to boost financial support so that The Center remains the go-to resource for the future. The Center will continue to operate in our current location through the end of the year.

Due to the move, it is likely that some service offerings or programs may be suspended or moved into a different venue. We would like to assure the community that the following services will continue to be provided:

Resource and Referral line (206) 323-LGBT (5428) will continue its regular service.

Ingersoll Gender Center support programs and services. For January, regular Wednesday group meetings (7-9 p.m.) will be held at Seattle Counseling Services. For more information check www.ingersollcenter.org.

The Seattle LGBT Community Center will continue to provide information and calendaring on community events and the programs of the Center.

We look forward to announcing our new location in the coming weeks, and look forward to serving the community as we continue to build relationships and community with one another.

Thank you for your support and please during this time especially we greatly need DONATIONS!!!
