Chilly weather and post-holiday credit card statements keep travelers close to home during the late winter months. Which is why Seattle Gay News is suggesting regional, more affordable destinations for your next weekend or overnight getaway.
On February 8, Richard Kennedy will introduce you to an adorable Gay-owned bed & breakfast and an off-the-beaten-path restaurant on Bainbridge Island. A 35-minute ferry trip, the nearby island is a cozy place to say "I heart you" on Valentine's Day.
Two weeks later, on February 22, I'll give you the scoop on the oh-so-fabulous Hotel deLuxe in Portland, a big attraction for Gay men and film buffs. The eight-floor property uses Hollywood's Golden Era as a theme with tributes to Judy Garland, Ginger Rogers, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder, and Federico Fellini. This hotel is so cool! I've also got some terrific drinking spots to tell you about in the Rose City that Gay boys are flocking to in droves.
And on March 7, Nick Ardizzone treks to Victoria BC in search of adventure and relaxation. Using the new Hotel Oswego as a homebase, he'll explore the outdoorsy side of this pristine Canadian city with possible kayaking or hiking excursions. Get your backpacks ready.
