Two Hours' Traffic presents the Seattle premiere of Matt and Ben
Two Hours' Traffic presents the Seattle premiere of Matt and Ben
MATT AND BEN
FEBRUARY 8-16, 8 PM
BALAGAN THEATRE
1117 EAST PIKE ST.
SLIDING SCALE $10-$30

In keeping with the grand tradition of unforeseeable and unstoppable disaster that all low-budget fringe theatre unwillingly clings to like Jamie Lynn Spears to the fetus within her, the Two Hours' Traffic production of Matt and Ben has been postponed for a week due to unforeseen delays in Balagan theatre's renovation plans. We weep with you, trust me. We now open on February 8 and run Fridays, Saturdays, AND Sundays for two weeks, closing on the 16th. It's still gonna be an awesome show, you just gotta wait a little longer to get your hands on it.

Are we the only ones that are sick of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's douchebag faces? Apparently not, because a few years ago Mindy Kaling (of television's The Office) and Brenda Whithers wrote an entire play about how there's no way in hell the frat-boys turned super-studs could have penned Good Will Hunting (Which I personally rewatched the other day, and that is a really good movie. How on earth did they pull that one off? I mean, we're talking about Ben Affleck here, the almost-daddy of J-Lo's children. And now apparently he's a really good director too? WHAT?!).

The play, aptly titled Matt and Ben, tore up Off-Broadway a few years ago, and now 2HT is proud to bring it to Seattle for the very first time. Based on the premise that the script literally fell fully written from the ceiling of Mr. Affleck's shitty, beer-can-strewn, pre-fame apartment (a la Athena from Zeus' head), the play is "absolutely delightful and deliciously spiteful" according to The New York Times. The dueling sexiest-men-alive are left to struggle with Damon's ego and Affleck's idiocy as they work out exactly what to do with the apparent gift from the cinematic gods. With Christmas Carolesque appearances from Gwenyth Paltrow and JD Salinger, Matt and Ben's bizarre friendship is put through the ringer. The best part? Our favorite Hollywood boys are played by women.

Two Hours' Traffic tackles the one hour comic slam-fest with two brilliant actresses, Felisa Smithson and Brenda Joyner. Combined with a female director, Morgan Aldrich, the 3 girls rip those lucky bastards ironic new assholes in Balagan's newly renovated space. Get your tickets now. Do it.
