| Great Valentine's Day ideas for those with sweeties or those with cats | |

SGN A&E Writer Okay, as far as I know, I'm spending Valentine's Day with friends at Mame, then coming home to my cats, where I'll show them so much love they'll be like fat little ticks for at least a couple of days. I'll definitely wear something red, and send Valentines to my play partners from The Wet Spot - the ones who matter anyway - and whether you're doing something similar to the above, or you actually have a sweetie and are thinking of a romantic evening, here are some good ideas. First, if you haven't gotten gifts for yourself or someone special, there is going to be a "members only" day at The Body Shoppe in Pacific Place on the 9th (Saturday), and all proceeds from items sold goes to a domestic violence organization. So, do go and indulge in the new Japanese Cherry Blossom body butter, bath gel and scent. This is the yummiest stuff I've tried in some time, and I'm sure you and someone special could think of so much to do with the whole line, so get some! Don't forget to stock up on lip gloss and that delish lip balm, which is good for every day and makes lips feel kissable & and on Valentines Day, who doesn't want to be kissable? Other gifts could be Aveda's bamboo hand gloves, which you wear over their hand moisturizer when you're sleeping for soft hands forever. Get some for you and everyone you love, 'cause these are very inexpensive. While there, you could pick out a few other body products to share on the big night, or just for you to love yourself, and make you feel good. Nice people, too, so shopping for Valentine's Day will be a breeze if you stop in there. And there's so many things, like undies and bras and shimmery scents to love at the Pacific Place Victoria's Secret, I'd advise at least a peek in there, too. Do wish they'd give out samples, though, but still, just going there, alone or with someone, will make you feel in love, trust me. And for the truly brave of heart, check out the Little Red Studio's Valentines Day Sensual Repast. Go to LittleRedStudioSeattle.com, for information on this event and other upcoming ones. Or you could check out Banya 5 (Banya5spa.org) where you can get a massage, check out the saunas and have your body treated like royalty. There's also the Hot House, near the Wild Rose, where you can steam away "the Seattle cold," or just hang out in a warm atmosphere. Then you could make dinner with ingredients from Madison Market and Trader Joe's, and feed each other fruit, bits of cheese and chicken from a common plate, like me and "army sweetie" did before the trip to Iraq. Or make each other Valentine's cards, like you did when you were just a wee one, then exchange them, dressed in something hot from the new store next to Salon Dewi, or just go to the salon, get a massage, mani/pedi and go out on the town. Finally, for those of us with our pets as our sweeties, get some really good stuff for those little darlings from Mud Bay or Bark (located in Ballard, on Ballard Avenue, near where the Sunday Farmer's Market is held), or PetCo. They'll love you, you'll feel good and all will be joy and bliss in your universe, especially if you cook something really special and delish for yourself, too. Hey, no reason to have a bad night if your sweetie's either overseas (like mine) or you're out of a relationship, or whatever causes it to be "just you." Me, I'd take a ride on the ferry and you never know, it may start out as "just you," but be you and "so and so" by night's end. Happy Valentine's Day, my little "conversation hearts," and may all of you at least get a rose and something sweet. |
