Spectrum Dance Theater, the Northwest's preeminent contemporary dance company, will premier The Theater of Needless Talents, a performance of dance, theatrical vignettes, and cabaret, created to the music of Erwin Schulhoff, a brilliant Czech Jewish composer and performer who died during the Holocaust. Performances will take place at Spectrum's Madrona Studios, 800 Lake Washington Boulevard, February 22-24, 29 and March 1-2 (Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 5:30 p.m.).

Spectrum's The Theater of Needless Talents is inspired by those Jewish artists who, even while imprisoned in Nazi death camps and facing grim, uncertain futures, sought to generate optimism and affirm life by creating, presenting, and performing artistic and intellectual activities.

The Theater of Needless Talents asks audiences to consider the lessons of the Holocaust in light of human rights violations and atrocities in the Middle East, Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda, Darfur, and elsewhere. At the same time, The Theater of Needless Talents reminds audiences of the infallibility of the human spirit, no matter what the odds.

Tickets are $18 pre-sale; $20 at the door - Space is limited - Early reservation is highly recommended. For advance tickets and information, call 206-325-4161 or visit us at www.spectrumdance.org.
