The Atomic Bombshells make stripping an art
by Jessica Price - SGN A&E Writer

The Atomic Bombshells
April 1-2, 7/10 PM
The Triple Door
$22

The Atomic Bombshells are, without a doubt, Seattle's hardest-working women in show business. On top of that, they're dazzling and can charm the pants off an audience. Come to think of it, they can charm the pants off just about anyone, male or female. These lovely ladies (and occasional gentlemen) of burlesque are as hot as they come, but they've got brains and sass to match. What better way to kick off spring than with a fever like this?

Returning for two nights at Seattle's beautiful dinner theater The Triple Door, the girls are breaking in an all-new revue for their loyal fans this time around. Every time I've seen The Atomic Bombshells, their fans have grown exponentially. Word travels fast when a burlesque troupe is truly talented. Inspired by the hometown of its founding members, this show pays tribute to The Crescent City and promises to showcase all things steamy and Southern. Titled "Nightfall in New Orleans," the brand new extravaganza features the talents of members Lily Verlaine, Kitten LaRue, Miss Indigo Blue, Ivy St. Spectre, Ruby Mimosa, Fanny in Flames, Honey Deluxe, as well as host Jasper McCann and the return of "boylesque" sensation Waxie Moon. Rumor has it there may also be a bit of torch singing courtesy of Coco Bellissimo.

What makes these glamour girls remarkable is their training by some of the golden age of burlesque's last remaining stars. They love to tease, but they're ultraprofessional; every curtain call celebrates the female form with humor and love. Choreography, sets, and music are handpicked and executed with polish and flair. These tassel-twirlers make charming a raucous crowd seem easy, but you can tell how hard each performer works by the sheer detail of every dance move. The result is well-thought-out burlesque perfection. It's obvious when you see them in person not only how much they enjoy what they do, but how much respect they have for those who learned to dress (and undress) with style and grace from burlesque's heyday. The Atomic Bombshells know their business. These lovely ladies will steal the hearts of every person at The Triple Door. Get your tickets to one of the four sets while there's still time.
