CHAC THANKS COMMUNITY AND SGN

Dear George Bakan,

Thank you for all your help with Bat-N'-Rouge, our softball extravaganza fundraiser benefiting the Capitol Hill Alano Club. We couldn't have done it without your help with articles, advertising, and support. Words can't express how much we appreciate you and the Seattle Gay News. This year was our best event ever - attendance was at an all-time high, the drag queens were even more glamorous than before, the weather was superb and our proceeds were over $16,000 gross. We were really pleased with the amount raised, and this will go a long way in helping keep our doors open this year.

Capitol Hill Alano Club is a non-profit organization that provides a safe and permanent meeting place for 12-step groups in their primary purpose of carrying their messages to those seeking recovery. CHAC was founded in 1982 by Seattle's recovering Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community. Over 60 12-step meetings a week are held at CHAC, and include AA, Al-anon, NA, SAA, CMA, and SLAA meetings. These serve the GLBT recovery community, and all people are welcome to attend meetings at CHAC. Over the years, many people have overcome addictions and alcoholism through attendance at recovery meetings at CHAC. These people go on to be vital members of our community and put their lives back together.

The Capitol Hill Alano Club depends on the generous support of our members and donors to help fund this essential resource for the community. We couldn't have done it without your support. Thank you once again for your help.

With much appreciation,
Callie Smith, Board President,
Capitol Hill Alano Club
Jim Davidson and Marcus Corns,
Chairs, Bat-N'-Rouge

SGN READERS FROM A CHORUS LINE?

Broadway Across America-Seattle and the national touring company of A Chorus Line are looking for any cast members who appeared in the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line at the Shubert Theatre in New York between 1975 and 1990. Please send an e-mail to broadwayseattle@comcast.net by August 4. This is a great opportunity for former cast members to share their memories of how they dazzled the Broadway stage in this "one singular sensation!"

PRIDE ISSUES GREAT

While most of the issues of Seattle Gay News are good, the Pride issue, with the book coverage, etc., is great. Thanks.

GROWING UP GAY

When I discovered my interest in men, I didn't know whether to be looker or doer. It didn't take me long to know my feelings were shared by many other people locally without remorse for our actions.

Through the years I've met some very beautiful Gay men who were very talented, caring, and became good friends as we socialized on a regular basis weekly knowing our happiness was more important than basking in life's bad moments.

Recently a friend visited me to say goodbye as he was moving to Palm Desert, California with his lover. We had known each other for nine years starting at the old Timberline. I was awestruck about his kindness and will surely miss him.

Although I've been through many bad scenes, the good ones help to make me cherish my lifestyle without hiding in the closet and playing it so straight that I bend in the middle.

AFTER PRIDE WEEK

It was a time for everyone to celebrate their sexual identity freely without fear of disturbing the peace.

The parade featured many people willing to be seen and heard demonstrating their enthusiasm for their chance to march in downtown Seattle plus attending activities at the Seattle Center later in the day.

Much credit should go to the planning committee for all the time involved in preparation for this well attended event. Thank you is so little for so much plus being there to share PRIDE, participation, resourcefulness, integrity, demonstrable care, and unlimited energy.
