The final judgment
The final judgment
by Sean Maloney - SGN Contributing Writer

According to the Bible, Jesus Christ was once confronted by a group of Pharisees threatening to stone a woman for adultery. They asked for Jesus' blessing on the subject and he replied to them, " May he who is without sin cast the first stone." After Jesus uttered these immortal words, the Pharisees realized they too had sin on their hands and departed, leaving the adulteress unharmed. This was Jesus' intention. Since all had sinned, none were righteous enough to judge others for their sins. However, even now - like the Pharisees before them, there are still religious people who hypocritically want to throw stones at their neighbors & many of which who ironically claim to be Christian.

Specifically, these so called "Christians" love to target the Gay Community when casting these stones. However, instead of using rocks they have a modern day weapon in their arsenal - the Holy Bible itself. They use Bible verses out of context from Leviticus and Romans to condemn homosexuals. They have ridiculous phrases like "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," when the original sin was obviously heterosexual sex. They look at us through tainted eyes of hatred that paint us as absolute evil when many Gays are meek, fair and humble, all of the traits that Christ himself said were essential to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Our loyal Messiah also spoke openly about brotherly love in a time when it was extremely unpopular and surrounded himself with 12 men whom he was openly affectionate to.

In fact, Jesus never had one recorded word in the Bible against homosexuals, but he did speak against hypocrites. Hypocrites that prey on the Gay communities ignorance and fear of what the Bible truly says, especially that of young Gay men from secular households. Hypocrites who use the persecution of homosexuals to defend a system controlled by the Devil. Hypocrites who will be judged the harshest on Judgment Day because they love to judge others.

So many of the problems in the Gay Community are the result of the hatred coming from these hypocrites (who often turn out to be closeted homosexuals themselves). Unfortunately, they too often succeed in making us feel worthless for being different than they are. They are like stubborn goats in a valley of sameness, not following the shepard that leads the sheep, but following their own wills all the way over the edge of a cliff.

Still, stubborn hatred is the most dangerous, like a broken record playing the same bad song over and over in our minds. Their wicked song has infected society, teaching others to hate Gays and in turn creating internalized homophobia for Gays themselves because we start to believe our own creator hates us for being who we were meant to be. Then many of us sink into drug addiction and other para-suicidal behaviors while murderers sleep peacefully at night.

Friends, the truth that I am telling you is that we need not believe wolves in sheep's clothing when they tell us that we are hated by the most high God. I, myself, was once under their wicked spell, until God showed me this truth about his Holy word, which had been used as a weapon against me and our community numerous times. The truth is that God loves us just the way we are, and we don't have to change to conform to the world's standards. The question remains: If God is for us, then who can be against us?
