CAFÉ METROPOLITAIN HOSTS DRAG BINGO TO BENEFIT LAMBERT HOUSE
Drag Bingo at Gay-owned Café Metropolitain continues in their all-ages café area. Drag Bingo is hosted by Giggles Galore every Sunday starting at 8 p.m. For the month of August, all Drag Bingo games will benefit Lambert House, Seattle's resource center for LGBT youth. FESTIVAL OF THE BABES LESBIAN SOCCER FESTIVAL LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN SEATTLE
The Festival of the Babes (FOB) is a Lesbian soccer festival held every Labor Day weekend. It was founded by a women's soccer team that was inspired to create their own tournament after attending the Gay Games in Vancouver, BC, and the Seattle Sports Festival. Now entering its 18th year, FOB includes a two-day soccer tournament, opening ceremonies, and dance parties each night. Teams come to play from California, Washington, Oregon, Canada, and wherever Lesbians play soccer.

The festival registers up to 24 teams that bring approximately 350 players and fans. FOB is a well-known and loved community event that brings together players from all over the U.S. and Canada. Large numbers of women from the host city also attend both the tournament itself and the nightly events hosted by FOB. Although Lesbian players primarily make up the teams, the tournament is open not only to Lesbians, but to anyone who doesn't mind being mistaken for one.

This year, FOB 18 is being hosted in Seattle. All the games will be held at Maplewood Playfield, 4801 Corson Ave. S., on Saturday & Sunday, August 30 & 31 starting at 9 a.m. each day. A closing night party and awards show, open to the Seattle Lesbian community, will be held Sunday evening at Cowgirls, Inc., 421 1st Ave. S., starting at 8 p.m. Party with 300 soccer babes from around the world. GENDER ODYSSEY CONFERENCE FOR TRANSGENDER PEOPLE RETURNS
From Saturday, August 30 to Monday, September 1, Gender Odyssey presents their sixth annual conference for Transgender and all gender variant people, their families, loved ones and health care providers at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. "MANY STORIES, ONE VOICE: THE NORTH AMERICAN CONVOCATION OF PRO-LGBT CHRISTIANS"
Registration is now open for "Many Stories, One Voice," the premier gathering of pro-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Christians, which will be held in New Orleans, LA, September 4-7.

"Many Stories, One Voice: The North American Convocation of Pro-LGBT Christians" is a conference that will offer new tools and training in the areas of faith-based community organizing, media training, board development, fundraising, research, biblical studies, theology, capacity-building and other concrete skills. Participants will also engage in discussions about issues of race, class, ability, age, embodiment, gender identity and sexual orientation. Pro-LGBT faith leaders are urged to attend. RADICAL WOMEN HOSTS ORGANIZING MEETING DISCUSS ON UPCOMING CONFERENCE IN SF
On Thursday, September 4, Radical Women will host a feminist organizing meeting and discussion which will focus on "The Persistent Power of Socialist Feminism" to be held in San Francisco, October 3-6. SEVENTH ANNUAL BRAS FOR A CAUSE
On Thursday, September 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Art Institute of Seattle in partnership with City of Hope presents "Bras for the Cause" - an exhibiton of artistry and innovation celebrating the courageous fight against breast cancer. The Art Institute students, faculty and staff join forces to create art from the ordinary - more than 50 bras have been reinterpreted, redefined and reinvented in this annual tribute to form over function. Ranging from the sentimental to the sensational, these inspiring designs evoke a variety of emotions in the artists, as well as the audience. This year's reception takes place in The Art Institute Photo Studio, 2323 Elliott Ave. Harpist Leslie McMichael will perform. The evening's program also includes a classic Hollywood themed runway-style fashion show, featuring students modeling the "art."

SHIFT PEER RECOVERY NETWORK HOSTS BBQ CELEBRATING WOMEN ORGANIZES FOCUS GROUPS
On Friday, September 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., SHIFT Peer Recovery Network hosts "Celebrating Women: A BBQ" at Dunshee House, 17th Ave. E. & E. SHIFT will be conducting two focus groups during the month of September to gather information from the Queer-identified women's community to help SHIFT serve and support the LBTQ community in their recovery paths through groups, events and activities. LIFELONG AIDS ALLIANCE CARE TO SHOP FOOD DRIVE
Chicken Soup Brigade, Lifelong AIDS Alliance's food program, sponsors an on-going food drive program to provide bags of groceries to people living with HIV/AIDS in Seattle/King County. "Care to Shop" is held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the following stores:

The first Saturday of the month at QFC, 416 15th Ave. E., Seattle; the second Saturday of the month at QFC, 417 Broadway E. (Broadway Market), Seattle; and the third Saturday of the month at Thriftway, 9740 S.W. Bank Rd., Vashon Island.

They particularly need: cereal, canned tuna, canned meals (soup, stew, etc.), juice, canned beans, peanut butter, jam/jelly, canned fruits and vegetables, macaroni and cheese, dry pasta, canned or jarred spaghetti sauce. LAMBERT HOUSE SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR DROP-IN CENTER
Lambert House, Seattle's resource center for LGBTQ youth, is seeking dedicated volunteers, who are available Monday-Friday, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., for the drop-in center. Volunteers are responsible for the daily operation of the drop-in center, maintaining a safe and respectful environment, and listening to youth talk about their lives. Drop-in center volunteers must be 24 years of age or older, comfortable working with youth, willing to commit to a weekly three-hour shift for a minimum of a year, and available for the next training (September 6, 7 and 13). 2008 EMERALD CITY CAT FIGHT VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT COMING UP SVC FALL LEAGUE BEGINS LATE SEPTEMBER
On Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, the Seattle Volleyball Club, Seattle's Gay & Lesbian Volleyball Club, will host the 2008 Emerald City Cat Fight Volleyball Tournament, at Highline Community College Sports Pavilion, 2400 S. 240th St, Des Moines, WA, about 25 minutes south of Seattle. This is a regional volleyball tournament with Gay & Lesbian teams from Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, BC. Spectators are welcome. FIRST PLACE 20TH ANNIVERSARY GALA DINNER
On Friday, September 19, at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel and Towers Metropolitan Ballroom, 6 Ave. & Pike St., First Place, a school and social service agency for homeless elementary school children and their families, hosts a gala banquet to fund their education and social service programs. The event will feature keynote speaker Rafe Esquith, a highly regarded and much celebrated inner city teacher, who has been honored by the Dalai Lama, Queen Elizabeth and Oprah Winfrey, and who is a recipient of the U.S. President's National Medal of the Arts and the Walt Disney American Teacher Award for National Teacher of the Year. First Place is both a social service agency and an elementary school for children and families struggling with the risks and realities of homelessness in the City of Seattle. SEATTLE MAJESTICS ANNOUNCE OPEN TRYOUTS
On Saturday, October 11, the Seattle Majestics women's tackle football team will be holding open tryouts for their 2009 squad at French Field, Kent Meridian High School, 10200 S.E. 256th St., Kent, at 11 a.m. Players will be tested for speed, agility, and specific football skills.

The Majestics are coming off a stellar season, winning the Pacific Northwest Division, going undefeated (8-0) in the regular season. The Majestics made it to the Western Conference Championship game and ultimately lost to the eventual National Champions. The Majestics are looking to build on 2008 by finding strong, hard working females to round out their veteran roster. No prior football experience is necessary (must be 18 years old), just a desire to work hard, learn, and do what it takes to win a National Championship.
