Fall travel issue to spotlight France, Provincetown, Whistler Mountaineer, Arctic Hotel
by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Grab your suitcases and Gay accessories because you're headed with us to the Languedoc-Rousillon region of France, the non-hetero capital of the Northeast, aboard a scenic train ride to Whistler, and overnight at Seattle's newest hotel that everybody is buzzing about.

Seattle Gay News is pleased to announce its third special travel issue of 2008, hitting newsstands on September 19. In it, you'll spend 24 hours with me in Paris as I scout for things to do, places to go, and cafes to digest in the City of Lights for one day. Then we'll glide through the semi-mountainous region of Languedoc-Roussilon for a week. If you've been-there-done-that in Paris and are looking for a more remote French excursion, you'll want to consider this gorgeous part of the country for your next vacation. Ron Anders attended Provincetown's annual star-studded film festival, and found some remarkable restaurants and bars during his stay. Did you know you can fly directly to Boston from Seattle and connect to P-town at the same airport? Ron has useful hassle-free flight information to provide to you in his upcoming travel piece. The Whistler Mountaineer is the most scenic and least stressful method of getting to Whistler from Vancouver BC, and heavy construction will continue to slow traffic down on Highway 99 as the 2010 Winter Olympics approach. Hop aboard this three-hour trip with me as you discover a bit of British Columbia's hidden beauty. Finally, everyone is raving about the new Arctic Hotel in downtown Seattle. Opened just this summer on the corner of 3rd and Cherry, this vintage-style property pays tribute to an era when sophistication was cool and art deco was nowhere to be found. Everything you need to know about this hotel, including its potent absinthe fountain, is coming soon.

These are just a few of the destinations we'll showcase in our forthcoming special travel issue, but expect to learn about other popular tourist spots and get tips on international travel as well. Start your fall vacation here at Seattle Gay News.
