| An interview with singer-songwriter Jeff Hanson next week in "The Music Lounge" |
by Albert Rodriguez -
SGN A&E Writer
His music was featured on TV's Nip/Tuck and he's the kind of artist that would appeal to fans of Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Joshua Radin, and Josh Rouse. His songs are delicate tales backed by soft guitar strums, like "Behind the Moon" and "This Time It Will," and he's just released a new album entitled Madam Owl featuring the single "If I Only Knew." Signed to Olympia-based Kill Rock Stars record label, which helped launch the careers of The Decemberists and The Gossip, he may finally see his breakthrough on the national indie singer-songwriter scene this year. A Minnesota native whose high-pitched vocals are often thought to be that of a 20-something female, he's recently been given beaming reviews by NPR and The Onion. His name is Jeff Hanson, and he's my special guest in "The Music Lounge" next week, three days before he performs live at Chop Suey (www.chopsuey.com). If you're the kind of music listener who loves to stumble across a fresh face with a deep pool of talent, visit www.myspace.com/jeffhanson to ear-sample his music or watch his videos for "This Time It Will" and "Behind the Moon" on YouTube. Grab a copy of Seattle Gay News on September 12 to get familiar with a truly gifted up-and-comer, Jeff Hanson.
