| 22nd Seattle AIDS Walk benefit comes to Capitol Hill |
On Saturday, October 4, over 2,500 AIDS and HIV activists, friends and family of those affected by the disease and concerned citizens will march through Capitol Hill in the 22nd Seattle AIDS Walk. The program will kick off at 9:20 a.m. and will include short speeches from Lifelong AIDS Alliance's staff and past board members. The Quake Rugby team will then lead the crowd in some warm-up stretches. At 10:00 a.m., walkers decked in colorful T-shirts and red ribbons will set off from Volunteer Park at 12th Ave E and Prospect and complete a one-mile loop back to the finish line. A post-walk party is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and will feature complimentary food and music.
The Seattle AIDS Walk is a benefit for Lifelong AIDS Alliance, the Pacific Northwest's leading AIDS Service Organization. This year's walk honors the organization's 25 years of service to people living with AIDS and HIV. Money raised from the walk supports Lifelong's care services and advocacy work. There are more people living with HIV in King County than ever before and the rate of infection, especially among minorities and women, continues to rise.
