Healthcare is an area drawing increasing attention in the movement for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender equality. The world's largest conference addressing LGBT health issues comes to Seattle at the Madison Renaissance Hotel, 515 E. Madison St., on October 22-25. Program highlights include:
The main conference, offering 18 hours of continuing education credit and including presentations and workshops on Lesbian health, Gay men's health, Transgender health, Bisexual health, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, aging, families and relationships, law and policy, and other topics.
The LGBT Healthcare 101 Seminar, on October 22, 2008, which will provide an overview of the subpopulations that make up the LGBT community, describe LGBT healthcare disparities, and detail best practices for providing care to LGBT patients. 4.5 hours of continuing medical education credit are offered.
GLMA's Annual Gala Banquet on Saturday, October 25, aboard an Argosy Cruise, including entertainment and the presentation of GLMA's annual Achievement Awards.
A reception to benefit the Lesbian Health Fund on Friday, October 24. LHF makes grants for Lesbian health research.
The HIV/AIDS Symposium, featuring the latest information about treatment, vaccine research, and prevention.
