ALLYSHIP PRESENTS "QUEERLY CLASSED" - A DISCUSSION SERIES ON ECONOMIC JUSTICE AND QUEER LIBERATION
The purpose of this discussion series is to encourage LGBTQ folks and allies to discuss their personal experiences with economic injustice. We also hope to connect participants to local economic justice organizations and to engage in a bigger picture analysis about intersecting oppressions. This year we are collaborating with Bend-It, a youth activist/artist collective, who will be offering writing/art workshops in conjunction with our discussions. Ultimately, we hope to create a sense of an artist/activist community of people interested in this work. This discussion series will meet monthly at Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Center, 104 17th Ave. S., starting with a social at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program from 7-8:30 p.m. Through this discussion series, Allyship works to build a progressive LGBTQ community of people fighting all oppressions and connecting everyday issues that affect all of us.

The next date and topic of the discussion series is: Monday, November 24 - OUT of Queer Space: The History of Gentrification and the Exploration of Decreasing Queer Space on Capitol Hill.

Allyship activists are LGBTQ and Allies who believe that all oppressions are interconnected and in the possibility of a world free of oppression. We seek to work in solidarity with marginalized communities to understand the interconnectedness of oppression and to support the systematic liberation of all people.

This discussion series is being sponsored by Allyship, Student Labor Action Project (SLAP), Bend-It, Equal Rights Washington, Seattle NOW, Reclaim the Media and Comite Pro-Amnistia General y Justicia Social.
