MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN & THE SATURDAY SOFTBALL LEAGUE HOST THE
33RD GAY SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES&AND NAGAAA FEST 2009
December 8, 2008; During the week of August 30 to September 5, 2009, Milwaukee Wisconsin and the Saturday Softball League are proud to host the 33rd Gay Softball World Series (GSWS), also known as Series 2009. As many as 200 teams and 4,000 players, fans, and friends are expected to converge on Milwaukee from across the United States and Canada for the largest annual gay sporting event. Milwaukee is known as the "City of Festivals" and in that spirit we they will present NAGAAAFest 2009. In addition to a stellar softball tournament, NAGAAAFest will be a series of events, celebrations and parties for the entire community.
But before the tournament begins, the NAGAAA Open Division Winter Meetings will take place Saturday & Sunday, January 24-25, 2009, at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center (the Host Hotel for Series 2009). These meetings are held to set up the rules and criteria for organized gay softball and are attended by representatives from the various NAGAAA member gay softball leagues from around the USA and Canada.
Specifically at this year's Winter Meetings, the Open Division will discuss, among other agenda items, the following:
corporate sponsorship,
the NAGAAA Hall of Fame,
plans for the annual AIDS fundraiser, to be held this year at the historic Pabst Theatre,
the site of the 2010 GSWS, and
the election of the Open Division Commissioner, and Treasurer

NAGAAA is a nonprofit, international organization dedicated to promoting amateur athletics for the gay community. Created in 1977, NAGAAA was formed to encourage the participation of gay men and women in organized softball competition. Currently, NAGAAA membership is comprised of over 680 teams in 37 gay softball leagues across the United States and Canada. The NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series is the largest annual gay sporting event in the world. Competition is held in an Open Division where teams consist of men/women mixed teams or exclusively male teams.
