End of year ups and downs, best and worst of 2008
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

Okay, just to recap from the blog of this column - Seattle, honey, you screwed up big time in the mismanagement that ran rampant during that killer snowstorm. And yes, I know "this doesn't happen here that often" (the excuse from Mayor "my head's lost in my ass" Nickels to many numb nuts I talked to on buses and street corners), but hon, it's called global weather change, so you damned well get a freaking better plan for next time. And there will be a next time, baby, you can trust me on that one. Use salt next time, and send out the plows before there's twenty feet of snow on the ground, and folks, pick up some damned shovels and learn to shovel snow, eh? Then next time, we won't be walking in slush, getting our feet wet and catching colds (like this one did), hmmmm? There, I've said it and I'm sticking to it.

So, that was definitely one of the worst moments/experiences of 2008, that and sobbing my eyes out all day on Christmas Eve, 'cause "army sweetie" couldn't make it over from Tacoma, and I couldn't get there. Big time bummer! Best moment? Hooking up with "army sweetie" again after forever at Le Wet Spot (just flippin' out of the blue) and having soul rocking sex after the scene to end all scenes at same. That weekend will be making me smile on my deathbed sweeties, oh yeah! Another good moment (though I dumped that one for being a lame ass) was the eventual hookup with a certain radio person in The Digs one glorious weekend.

Worst moment? That one crapping out and deciding drugs and alcohol were more important than another weekend with me. Can we say I went medieval on his ass? Yeah, and then some! Another good moment was all the sweet, sweet time this one spent im'ing with another "army sweetie" while that one was still overseas (the computer sex was a bonus). Worst moment? That one getting back, calling twice, then disappearing into the world. Hon, if you're reading, miss you still.

Other good moments? The fun had at The Three Musketeers, watching a good imitation of live sex at the opening night of Spring Awakening (hoo hah!), being thrilled almost to orgasm watching The Punisher, (same for Death Race and Iron Man). Yummy!

Absolute worst moment? Ending up in the UW ER after going in for a routine checkup and the docs thinking I was having an appendicitis attack. Yikes, and the scary film I watched on Sci-Fi TV, Death Tunnel, only emphasized how bad and scary things were that night into morning. Luckily, the best moment occurred when I found out it was not appendicitis, but more problems with my 'girl parts' and thus Thanksgiving was saved. Also, Thanksgiving rocked, as did Christmas evening (after I finally got through the hellish nightmare Metro foisted on all their passengers - more the King County leadership than the drivers - and got to The Fabulous Daughter's to open presents and gnosh).

A lot of best moments were had watching the tube and my favorite moments were definitely spent watching Supernatural, Flashpoint (which, yay, is coming back on with new episodes) and both CSI: Miami and CSI: New York as well as the new Fringe and Eleventh Hour. Great TV at last, for those of us who actually think. Didn't so much like this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Not enough punch, too much camp. And, of course, last year's Rustycon and Norwescon were both rare moments, hooking up with my young, red-haired prince of sex and good times. Hope to be seeing that one again, fo' sho' this year.

So, best moment (this is before New Year's Eve, which this one will be spending with love objects a'plenty at Le Wet Spot, dahlings!) at the end of 2008? Having one of my fondest fantasies come true, when this one hooked up with three very spunky lads last weekend at the aforementioned Spot. Oh, the things we did, chile! Yes, my rear is a bit sore, but hey, sometimes pain is fun my sweeties, especially when mixed with delish pleasure.

Oh, and yes, a bad moment was thinking I lost my wallet when "army sweetie" dropped me off at the farmer's market, and best, best, best moment was having my darling one return it to me in person. This was, of course, before that one dropped off the face of the earth (or so it would seem) after a chat about the nature of our relationship on the most awful Christmas Eve this one has had in many, many years. Still, we haven't given up on "army sweetie," and are hoping for yet another hot night in The Digs before that one goes off to school out of state (and that makes me sad just thinking about it). And yes, we're still looking forward to meeting "other army sweetie" (yes, honey, I do have a thing for guys in uniform, hmmm?) when that one returns from holidaying with the relatives for New Year's Eve. Should be a pretty good time this New Year's Eve (unlike the lame ones I've had the last two years, honey).

So, what else has this one been up to besides reflecting on "best and worst" moments, and having fantasies fulfulled, or cursing this city over snow mismanagement? Well, did gift myself with this delish Body Mist in "Shimmer Sugar Plum" (smells edible, dahlings, really!) from Old Navy - a gift from my big brother, or from the cash he sent me. Also still loving Annick Goutal's "Les Nuit d'Hadrien" eau de toilette (which this one was wearing during the four-way at The Spot). Pick this up at Nordstrom, along with all of those so magnificent MAC cosmetics that this one adores so (and plans to get at least one more eye pencil for this one's birthday).

Also, on the "heroes of the storm" list, a certain number 10 bus driver who bravely took me and a motley group of desperate passengers up Pine Street, thus keeping me from having to walk even more miles that freezing Sunday a few weeks ago. You rock babe!

Villains list? Mayor Nickels and whoever thought it was a good idea to "just stay home" when it was snowing, forgetting some of us have to do things like get groceries, get meds, or make doctor's visits. And Christine Gregoire, hon, next time don't wait until there are 26 inches of snow and into it seven days before declaring an emergency, eh?

Finally, adieu to sex kitten Eartha Kitt, writing talent Harold Pinter and sci-fi icon Majel Barrett. We'll miss you loves. For now, be kind to each other and the planet, and if it snows again, think of offering a ride to a stranded bus rider eh? Happy and better New Year, my dahlings, and let's hope the love of my life, "army sweetie," gets back into this one's notice and my sheets.

Buhbye!
