| POZ Seattle looking for volunteers |
POZ Seattle, Seattle's only 100% volunteer-driven social organization by and for HIV-positive men of all ages, is looking to expand its volunteer pool.
POZ Seattle's signature event, the monthly socials at the Cuff, continues to draw between 75-100 men each month, and volunteers are needed to help sustain this and other POZ Seattle initiatives.
According to volunteer Steve Plunk, POZ Seattle has "a core group of about six guys who pretty much run the show, and we'd like to have a few more to help out." Specifically, volunteers are needed to help out with the following areas: grant writing to sustain the organization; menu planning and food purchasing for the monthly Cuff socials (food costs fully reimbursable within budget); theme planner and decorator for the monthly socials (decoration costs fully reimbursable within budget); media and community relations to help promote our events; greeter at the monthly socials; guest griller at the summer BBQs.
If you have the skills, time (two to four hours of commitment per month), and motivation, we'd really welcome and appreciate your help. Even if you've never been to a POZ Seattle event before, you are encouraged to get involved. For more information, please come to our informal Volunteer Orientation before the February social on Wednesday, February 11 at 5:30pm in the downstairs bar at the Cuff (1533 13th Ave at E. Pine St.). Meet the current volunteers, get your questions answered, and sign up for volunteer duties. If you can't make it, send us an e-mail from our website (www.pozseattle.org) with your contact information and volunteer interests. Someone will contact you. Hope to see you on the 11th!
