Bailey-Boushay House Celebrates Valentine's Day
Bailey-Boushay House Celebrates Valentine's Day
SEATTLE - (Feb. 12, 2009) - More than 700 heart-shaped and red balloons will adorn the Bailey-Boushay House Saturday, Feb. 14, as a sign of hope and caring. The annual Valentine's Day Remembrance is a special way staff and volunteers at the skilled nursing facility thank the community for its continued support.

"Bailey-Boushay House has served more than 5,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in the last 16 years and most of them spent their last days with us. Every face, every story is remembered in this public visual display on this special day dedicated to love," said Brian Knowles, executive director of the Bailey-Boushay House.

Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. about 20 to 30 volunteers and staff work together to prepare the balloons. Outdoor display of the balloons begins at 7 a.m. Saturday and takes about two hours to complete. The balloons will be on display throughout the weekend.

"Our preparation and celebration events are wonderful opportunities for people to do something different on Valentine's Day," said David Pavlick, volunteer program manager for Bailey-Boushay House. "Participants tell me each year what a rewarding experience this is for them."
