It's that time of year again when we roll out the red carpet for the courageous young people and their allies who are working to end anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in Washington's K-12 schools. The event will be held at the prestigious Bush School in the Madison Valley neighborhood of Seattle and is sponsored by the Gay, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Washington State. This premier youth event features an auction (including two round-trip tickets from Alaska Air/Horizon Air, dinner for four at the Space Needle, two tickets to Seattle Men's Chorus, and lots more!), live entertainment and hors d'oeuvres! Local celebrities, politicians and special guests will be in attendance. Tickets are now on sale for the Fifth Annual Gay-Straight Alliance Awards and Reception. The event will be held Friday June 5 from 6-9 p.m. at the Bush School at 3400 E Harrison Street, Seattle. It's only $10 for students and teachers; $20 for seniors/low-income; and $25 for other guests. For tickets, call Brown Paper Tickets at 1-800-838-3006 or visit www.brownpapertickets.com/event/58138. Award Nominations You worked hard, now it is your turn to be recognized for your efforts. Likewise, if you know of someone who went above and beyond or tried their hardest to make your GSA the best it can be, then nominate them for an award. Nominations are being accepted in one of eight categories: Community Involvement Organization Award Community Person of the Year Award Most Inspirational GSA Award Most Inspirational GSA Member Award GSA Leader of the Year Award Advisor of the Year Award.
