THIS WEEKEND: Gay City University is back in session
by James Whitely - SGN Contributing Writer

September 12 marks the opening of Gay City University (GCU) at the Northwest School, 1415 Summit Ave. The annual education program for Gay, Bisexual and Transgender men, put on by Gay City Health Project, is now a Seattle tradition. This year's GCU has plenty of new course offerings to choose from, as well as some returning favorites.

This year marks the 14th year of GCU. This year's GCU offers classes on various topics, including health, LGBT history, sexuality, and even finances.

GCU is $25, but scholarships are available for those who need them. The tuition cost includes lunch, served by the cafeteria staff from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Abbey of St. Joan.

GCU begins September 12, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration is open now, and full class listings as well as more information is available on the Gay City website at www.gaycity.org.

Gay City spokesman Jordan Duran says GCU is "a good opportunity for members of the community to be a part of the community, but also creates a space to teach and to learn."

Gay City is a multicultural Gay men's health organization and the premier provider of HIV and STD testing in King County.
