The California state legislature called on the US Congress and President Obama to repeal DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act).

The joint resolution - AJR 19 - passed on August 23. The vote was 22-12 in the Senate, with both Democrats and Republicans voting for repeal.

New York lawmakers address Gay divorce
The legislative history of a no-fault divorce bill that passed New York's Senate, then the Assembly, includes an Assembly memo that reaffirms New York's recognition of same-sex marriages from elsewhere and says that married Gay couples can divorce in New York.
