Rising star Eva shines in Seattle

by Shaun Knittel - SGN Associate Editor

There are tons of potential rising stars every year in pop music, but few can compare to the dynamic and alluring Eva. She has already caught the eye of Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, and Scott Storch. Now it's your turn to discover who Eva is: a singer, a dancer, and an up-and-coming pop star.

'I'm very excited to visit Seattle,' Eva told Seattle Gay News. 'This will be my first time. I've heard nothing but good things. I have some friends who go to school there and they tell me how beautiful it is.'

Eva will make her Seattle debut at Neighbours (1509 Broadway) on May 7 as a part of a 20-state tour that will include shows from New York to Los Angeles.

Eva's sound allows you to escape into a dream world of beauty, rhythm, and dance. 'I'm all about having fun,' said Eva, 20. 'I love dancing, I love performing. I'm all about feel-good music. A good song makes you want to have fun and want to dance!'

Her potential hits include 'Fashion Show,' produced by Scott Storch, who is known for chart-toppers with Justin Timberlake, Pink, Beyoncé, and Britney Spears; the catchy 'Slow Down,' which showcases Eva with hip-hop heavyweight Lupe Fiasco and garnered over 500,000 plays on MySpace.com; and the infectious track 'Popular,' produced by Poli Paul, which teams Eva with the legendary Snoop Dogg.

'Snoop is a really nice guy - he's passionate and loves what he does. To say I have a song with him is always cool,' said Eva humbly.

'My backup dancers and I have been working really hard to put together a great show,' Eva told SGN about her upcoming Neighbours appearance. 'My male backup dancers are really hot!'

Eva, who is straight, said that she loves her Gay fans and that most of the club dates of her tour take place in Gay nightlife venues. 'My Gay fans are awesome! You guys are the most accepting and loyal fans. You are truly fabulous!'

Eva is no standard pop tart. Over the past few years, she has put her soul where the beat is, paying dues in the industry, managing to land gigs as the opening act for hip-hop icon Nas and Grammy-winner Alicia Keys.

While Eva's sound is definitely pop, she transcends musical confines, adding a little hip-hop, R&B, funk, and rock to her music.

'I want anyone to be able to rock out to my music!' stressed Eva. 'I like pushing myself, being challenged, and creating pop music that is going to resonate with everybody.'

After the show, Eva said she will be available to take photos and meet her fans. 'I'm coming to Seattle to entertain, so everyone better get ready,' she said. 'I want to see everyone dancing and having a good time. It's gonna be hot!'
