Last week marked a full year since Congress passed and President Obama signed the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010.' It also marks three months since the new policy of open Gay service went into effect in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.

Lawrence v. Texas plaintiff dies

John Geddes Lawrence, Jr., the lead plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Lawrence v. Texas, died November 20, according to an obituary posted online by a funeral home in Texas. He was 68 years old.

Marko Liias gives up run for Congress

'You win some and you lose some,' Marko Liias chuckled, 'and then there's the third possibility: you get redistricted out.'

In a letter to supporters, Liias announced on December 29 that he was giving up his bid to succeed Jay Inslee as U.S. congressman from the 1st District.

Gay activist nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

French human rights activists have launched a campaign to award the Nobel Peace Prize to international LGBT rights advocate Louis-Georges Tin.

Belarus KGB security harassing LGBT activists

An 18-year-old Gay activist was detained and questioned by the Belarus KGB in December, according to reports published by the British Gay Star News.

D.C. considers same-sex divorce bill

A District of Columbia Council member has introduced a bill to allow same-sex couples who marry in D.C. but live in states that do not recognize their marriages to return to D.C. to get divorced.

The D.C. Council legalized same-sex marriages in December 2009.
