Super Happy Fun Time Hour not to be missed

by Shaun Knittel - SGN Associate Editor

The Super Happy Fun Time Hour
Lobby Bar
First Thursday of every month

Mr. and Miss Gay Seattle, Alexander Mentele and DonnaTella Howe, want you to join them once a month at Lobby Bar (916 E. Pike Street) for the Super Happy Fun Time Hour, a drag and variety show featuring talent from throughout the Seattle area to raise money for local nonprofit and charity organizations.

'Alex and I were approached by the owners of Lobby Seattle to help the continuation of their monthly fundraising events,' DonnaTella told Seattle Gay News. 'We thought it would be a fantastic addition to our year as Mr. and Miss Gay Seattle and another way to help out other performers by giving them a stage to perform on.'

'With all that goes on around the Hill on Thursdays it seemed like a fitting start to the evening,' she continued. 'Who knows where you might end up. But at least you can start off your night by helping a fantastic charity!'

The title - the Super Happy Fun Time Hour - is meant to be random and unconventional, explained DonnaTella. 'We are trying to keep the show an hour long, but you know how time can fly when you're having fun,' she said. 'Plus, instead of highlighting one charity each month, we decided to help out four charities quarterly.'

This quarter will benefit the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Abbey of St. Joan.

'The owners of Lobby Seattle, Paul and Curtis, have been nothing but kind and wonderful,' DonnaTella said. 'The Lobby space holds a place in my heart as I helped out at events when the space used to be Sugar. I'm so happy that the guys came along and made it into something so wonderful and fun. They really do a great job and have an amazing staff. I adore them.'

The January 5 inaugural event was a success. 'Everyone had fun,' said DonnaTella. 'There will be different people with us each month in support of that quarter's charity so you can count on new surprises each month. Alex and I do our own commentary and are a great team. I think people get a chance to see that at the show.'

'I would love to see this go on as long as possible and certainly become a place to highlight the must-see new and existing performers in the community as well as a time to step out and give a little back,' she continued. 'Who knows what will happen, but we are open to just about anything, as you will certainly see this year.'

'I want to thank everyone who came out to support the first show and we hope to see you all again,' concluded DonnaTella. 'It's been an amazing time so far, and we both want to do our very best for the Court of Seattle and the community at large. We are here for you!'

You can catch the Super Happy Fun Time Hour the first Thursday of every month at Lobby Bar at 9 p.m. Visit www.DonnaTellaHowe.com for information on upcoming events.
