A limited-edition cupcake from Cupcake Royale, 'The Gay,' is back for Pride Month 2012.

One dollar from each $4 cupcake sold goes to Washington United for Marriage, to keep marriage equality in the state this November.

Last year, Cupcake Royale donated proceeds from The Gay to the It Gets Better Project. The $10,000 donation was the single largest cash donation the organization received.

This year, Cupcake Royale hopes The Gay will raise not only funds but also awareness for Washington United for Marriage. Cupcake Royale says it is encouraging its customers to 'do what they can to help Approve R-74.'

'This year, when we posted The Gay babycakes, a.k.a. 'Gay-bies,' after [Gov.] Gregoire announced that she was going to push through [marriage] legislation, our Facebook page blew up with tons of likes and support for this issue,' said Jody Hall, owner of Cupcake Royale.

The Gay is a vanilla cake topped with Cupcake Royale's signature vanilla buttercream frosting, rainbow sprinkles, and a sugar rainbow. It is available throughout June at any of Cupcake Royale's five locations (Capitol Hill, Ballard, Madrona, West Seattle, and Bellevue). Stop by and sink your teeth into one!

Committed to giving back to their community, Cupcake Royale donates more than 40,000 cupcakes each year to help local nonprofits raise funds. The firm was named the Greater Seattle Business Association's 2012 Business of the Year.

'When the bill passed, and an impending referendum was to come about, we thought that there was no more important issue for us to dedicate funds for The Gay, than Washington United for Marriage. We will be the first state in the union to have the voters actually pass marriage equality,' Hall told SGN.

'Cupcake Royale wants to support this effort by making our donation - and we encourage other businesses to also raise funds. This effort will raise awareness and money, and we are so proud to take a leadership role.'
