LGBT allies Maroon 5 announce March concert

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Get your drool rags ready, because the Adam Levine Band is coming to Seattle. Best known as Maroon 5, the Grammy-winning act hasn't played in the city for several years, although they did perform at Auburn's White River Amphitheatre in 2011. Levine has been publicly supporting Gay marriage during election season, partly because he's such a cool dude but also because - if you haven't heard yet - his younger brother is Gay (and just as hot!). Maroon 5 is headed to Key Arena on March 11 to promote its newest album, Overexposed. Tickets, priced from $29.50 to $79.50, go on sale October 27 at 10 a.m., via Ticketmaster.

WELL, JINGLE MY & BELLS
KISS-FM 106.1 has revealed its lineup for this year's Jingle Ball. The December 16 holiday concert includes Calvin Harris, Ed Sheeran, Afrojack, 3OH!3, Owl City, Alex Clare, and Cher Lloyd. The 2012 installment, taking place at WaMu Theater, will donate funds from the show to the Alliance for Lupus Research. Tickets go on sale October 27 at Ticketmaster.

DOWN AND DIRTY
Let's have the time of our lives again, shall we? Dirty Dancing, starring the late Patrick Swayze, is celebrating its 25th anniversary and remains one of Hollywood's greatest contemporary musicals. The blockbuster movie, also starring Jennifer Grey, has accumulated upwards of $214 million since its August 1987 opening. Dirty Dancing: The Deluxe Anniversary Edition is a special commemorative issue of the recording that includes the original CD in its entirety, a hidden track (the film version of Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley's Oscar-winning song 'I've Had the Time of My Life'), an accompanying booklet with behind-the-scenes commentary from several of the producers, including Eric Carmen and Leon Medica, plus a pack of six collectible postcards and a newly designed bumper sticker. Swayze's 'She's Like the Wind,' Carmen's 'Hungry Eyes,' The Ronettes' 'Be My Baby,' The Zodiacs' 'Stay,' Merry Clayton's 'Yes,' and The Blow Monkeys' 'You Don't Own Me' are among the 12 tracks, besides the Warnes/Medley classic, featured on the disc. Dirty Dancing: The Deluxe Anniversary Edition is in record stores now - perfect timing for early holiday shoppers.

MEETING HIS IDOL
Congrats to Seattle resident Michael Henrichsen, who after much begging finally got his wish and national attention to go with it. Henrichsen repeatedly asked rock star Billy Idol to play at his 26th birthday party, and that dream came true when the three-time Grammy nominee agreed to the special performance. Mum's the word on where and when the B-day bash is taking place, but it'll likely happen either right before or after Idol plays to a sold-out crowd at The Showbox SoDo this weekend. Look for a review of that show in next week's SGN.

IN THE FUTURE, ALL'S WELL
Laying rumors to rest, Morrissey's concert in Seattle is still a go. The British singer-songwriter did cancel a batch of shows recently to return home and tend to his ill mother, but as of now the Moore Theatre performance on November 8 is affirmative.

I HEAR A SYMPHONY
Finally, don't forget local musician Brandi Carlile, who interviewed with SGN for our Pride issue in June, will appear in three shows with the Seattle Symphony, November 23-25. Visit www.seattlesymphony.org for ticket information.
