Let's misbehave! - Classic Fats Waller tribute show returns to Jazz Alley
by Milton W. Hamlin - SGN A&E Writer

AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'
DIMITRIOU'S JAZZ ALLEY
December 20-23

For decades, the seemingly endless touring edition of the Tony Award-winning Ain't Misbehavin' has brought seemingly endless joy to American audiences far, far away from the Great White Way. Almost every year, Seattle's Jazz Alley books the production, one of the first 'jukebox' musicals. It's an endless overflowing of raucous love - a loving tribute to Fats Waller and the 'Come on, baby, let the good times roll' style of everything his name implies.

Jazz Alley has done it again. The holiday encore booking gives Seattle arts fans a chance to visit a brothel-like Bourbon Street speakeasy - the perfect antidote to Seattle's awful weather, economy, and $4 parking meters that bilk Emerald City steppin'-outers until 8 p.m. six nights a week.

Solution: Jazz Alley has free parking, a wonderful menu, and a rare 'no minimum' policy - you pays your cover and you adds on whatever you want. And there's a great staff: ask for seating in a section manned by Lisa, Jessica, or Amy, and SGN guarantees you will get 12-out-of-10 service.

Need special attention? Bernie at the front desk will get you a cushion for your back or a disability-accessible seat on a sold-out night. Can't hear? Ask Fausto (aka The Sound Man Supreme) to run by your table and see what's wrong with what speaker. It's that kind of place.

For full details, Google www.sgn.org and read earlier reviews of Ain't Misbehavin' at Jazz Alley. There's one by this writer, one by Marian Michener, and a joyous, personal one by Eric Andrews-Katz.

Whatever you do, see Ain't Misbehavin' at The Alley. SGN and this writer guarantee you'll love it, or you will get a dime in the mail and a smile on our face. (If you feel guilty about wallowing in Waller's bawdy lyrics during this seemingly religious season, redeem your soul by checking out The Black Nativity the following night at the Moore Theatre.)

And, be sure to 'read all about' the snappily dressed women in Ain't who might or might not be wearing 'proper underpinnings' - a phrase rarely used today, alas. Go to www.jazzalley.com or call (206) 441-9729 for info. As usual, tell 'em SGN sent ya.
