The worst of 2012

by Albert Rodriguez and Jessica Price - SGN A&E Writers

Every year has its winners and its losers. The following random list of recordings, artists, and music-related happenings all deserve a big FAIL for agonizing us these past 12 months.

1. 'Gangnam Style' - Psy
This ghastly mega-hit became the new 'Macarena'/'Electric Slide' for those willing to succumb to its foolishness. -A. Rodriguez

2. Believe + inflated ego - Justin Bieber
The Biebs threw up on the first night of his tour, maybe after listening to his own music. -A. Rodriguez

3. Pop diva drama: Lady Gaga vs. Madonna vs. Elton John
The ongoing feud between these megastars got ugly. Ladies, can we just get along? -A. Rodriguez

4. Magic Hour - Scissor Sisters
Why, oh why, can't Scissor Sisters ever get it together for two consecutive albums? Night Work was better. -J. Price

5. 'Birthday Cake' (featuring Chris Brown) + 777 tour - Rihanna
We love her, but her tour was a disaster - rife with drama, booing, scorned press, and apologies. Bad idea. -J. Price

6. The MDNA tour - Madonna
Artistically, Madonna's live show was amazing, but her unreasonably late starting times and high ticket prices made her middle-aged fan base a little peevish. -J. Price

7. Looking for Myself - Usher
There's a joke in here somewhere with poor Usher's album title alone. Yawn. -J. Price

8. 'Call Me Maybe' - Carly Rae Jepsen
Summer's biggest jam sounds just as annoying six months later. Blame Canada! -A. Rodriguez

9. 'The Exorcism of Roman' (Grammy Awards performance) - Nicki Minaj
Holy crap! That about sums up the hip-hop star's over-embellished, diabolical Grammy skit. -A. Rodriguez

10. American Idol and The X-Factor
Thank goodness for The Voice because these two reality competition shows are lacking the main ingredient, talent. -A. Rodriguez
