This could be the year Anne Hathaway walks away with her first Academy Award - ditto for Jessica Chastain and Bradley Cooper. Might this also be the year we have split winners for Best Picture and Best Director? Will Seth MacFarlane bomb as host, as so many previous emcees have? One thing's for sure: this year there will be five Best Original Song nominees, and though it hasn't been announced I presume they'll all be performed on the telecast (last year there were only two entries, neither of which was sung live on the show).

Seattle Gay News and Purr will once again co-host an Oscars Party on February 24, an opportunity to view the awards on 15 TV screens with no cover charge and free prizes (how affordable is that?). No black tie, no silent auction, and a convenient location - Purr Cocktail Lounge on Capitol Hill (1518 11th Ave.).
