Waxie Moon film to screen monthly at Central Cinema
Bound for cult status, Waxie Moon in Fallen Jewel will start screening monthly at Seattle's Central Cinema, starting with special presentations on February 28 and March 28. The February 28 screening will be co-hosted by RuPaul's Drag Race superstar Jinkx Monsoon and Waxie herself. Another special guest will be featured March 28.

Fallen Jewel is a pop-art-comedy-musical that spoofs Hollywood conventions and celebrates Seattle. Directed by the award-winning filmmaker Wes Hurley, the film follows boylesque superstar Waxie Moon as the iconic heroine searches for love in a gender-bending journey that spans decades and genres. The ever-glamorous Moon maneuvers the sexy life of a single girl in the '90s and grapples with the repressed passions of vintage America, proving that love conquers all with a little help from high-fun high-fashion, a dusting of glitter, and an abundance of heart. The film has screened in Tel Aviv, Glasgow, and Japan, and won Honorary Mention at the Seattle Gay and Lesbian Film Festival last October.

Co written by Wes Hurley and Marc Kennison (Waxie Moon), Fallen Jewel features costumes and art direction by Harmony Arnold and Jennifer Zeyl, choreography by Wade Madsen, and original music by such local composers as Eric Lanes Barnes, The Little Penguins, Jose Bold, We Are Golden, Gretta Harley, and Campfire OK. The cast features a Who's Who of Seattle's performance art scene including Sarah Rudinoff, Marya Sea Kaminski, Nick Garrison, Keira McDonald, Inga Ingenue, Ricki Mason (aka Lou Henry Hoover), Jackie Hell, El Vez, Jerrick Hoffer, Brandon O'Neill, Stephen Hando and many others.

Screenings begin at 8 p.m. at Central Cinema (doors open at 7:30). For advance tickets, go to www.central-cinema.com.
