10 songs to spin at your Pride party

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Whether it happens in your living room, backyard, or hot tub, every Pride bash needs killer tunes. Here are 10 recently released songs you might wanna throw onto the playlist.

'Bubble Butt'
Major Lazer feat. Bruno Mars, Tyga, and Mystical

The best song about a derriere since Sir Mix-a-Lot's 'Baby Got Back,' this club track immediately reels you in. It's addictively fun to listen to, and even better shaking your ass to on a patio deck. No matter what size can you got, just let loose.

'Can't Hold Us'
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Emerald City natives Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have struck gold (again) with this piano-driven hip-hop track, which has already climbed into the top five of Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart. They're huge LGBT supporters, so something tells me these boys will be celebrating Pride, even if they're away on tour.

'Get Lucky'
Daft Punk feat. Pharrell

The quintessential summer hit of 2013 sounds better and better the more you listen to it. The verdict's still out (at least for me) on the rest of Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, but this electro-soul leadoff single is truly a gem. 'Get Lucky' is a party must!

'Lanzarote'
Lindstrom & Todd Terje

It's the hottest club hit of the summer, but very few people know about it. The Norwegian duo has released a made-for-summer classic that's likely getting play in Ibiza, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro, and anywhere else the party people go. Download it immediately for your Pride gathering.

'Blurred Lines'
Robin Thicke feat. Pharrell and T.I.

Is it me, or does this song bare a slight resemblance to Madonna's 'Give It to Me' (particularly, the 'Eddie Amador House Lover Mix')? Regardless, it's Thicke's biggest hit to date and already an international smash, #1 in both the US and UK. With a retro sound and the R&B singer's sexy vocals behind it, not to mention assistance from rap superstars Pharrell and T.I., 'Blurred Lines' has good times written all over it.

'U R Beautiful'
Schwarz

Baltimore native Schwarz is sending good vibes and a positive message with his electronic tune 'U R Beautiful.' Telling listeners to 'love yourself, love your body,' all the while swinging around in his underwear, literally, the young producer wants everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin. And if that isn't preaching to the choir during Pride month, I don't know what is.

'Entertainment'
Phoenix

Leave it to Grammy-winning four-piece Phoenix to provide an infectious guitar riff-laced track for our entertainment, the leadoff single from the band's new album, Bankrupt! Thomas Mars' vocals bleed beautifully into the chorus, as if he's really trying to tell us something.

'Mirrors'
Justin Timberlake

While everyone raved about 'Suit & Tie,' a mediocre cut at best, it's really this track - the second single from JT's 20/20 Experience album - that's worth repetitive play. More upbeat than 'Cry Me a River' and less danceable than 'Rock Your Body,' rotate this in as the festivities wind down in the wee hours of morning.

'Q.U.E.E.N.'
Janelle MonĂ¡e feat. Erykah Badu

Take two divas - one a near-legend, the other a hot up-and-comer - put them together, and the result is an instant R&B classic. It's a sultry, sophisticated jam that most Gay boys can relate to from a couple of the coolest soul sistas out there.

'Woman's World'
Cher

This may sound like microwaved club material, but hey, it's Cher. And in the eyes of many Gay men, she can do no wrong. Though it's far from her best recording, 'Woman's World' is a comeback single and it has enough adrenaline to make its own case on the dance floor.
